This role is a full-time, non-management position within the Engineering & Facilities category, focused primarily on maintaining the operational integrity of the hotel property. The Maintenance Engineer position is integral to ensuring that guest and facility needs related to repairs, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep are met promptly and efficiently. Located onsite in Dallas and not remote, this role demands hands-on expertise with a variety of maintenance areas including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems, kitchen equipment, and basic vehicle maintenance. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for responding to guest repair requests, communicating directly with guests or clients to resolve maintenance problems independently or with minimal supervision. Tasks include preventive maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating equipment, performing visual inspections, transporting tools and equipment, and managing inventory and supply requisitions. Proficiency in operating building systems such as valves and disconnect switches is essential. The role also requires adherence to safety standards including Lockout/Tagout procedures and storage of hazardous materials.

Additionally, the engineer is expected to perform a variety of repair work, including plumbing repairs like unblocking toilets and drains, electrical component replacements, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical system failures, and general carpentry and painting repair tasks. The position also involves programming televisions and maintaining overall engineering standards. Strong communication skills are vital for reporting daily activities and coordinating shifts with other team members. The role requires physical readiness to move, lift, and handle equipment safely and effectively.

Applicants should have at least two years of relevant experience in hotel engineering or general maintenance, preferably with a high school diploma or equivalent GED or technical training. A valid driver’s license and universal certification for handling chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) are mandatory. Candidates must meet all state and federal requirements for necessary certifications or licenses.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Respond to and attend guest repair requests
  • Communicate with guests or clients to resolve maintenance problems with little or no supervision
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment including cleaning and lubrication
  • Conduct visual inspections of tools, equipment, or machinery
  • Transport equipment such as tools and radios
  • Identify, locate and operate building equipment shut-off valves and disconnect switches
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as needed
  • Communicate daily activities and issues to employees on other shifts using appropriate programs and communication standards
  • Demonstrate proficiency in categories such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy saving and general building handling
  • Repair or replace copper or PVC piping including soldering
  • Diagnose faults and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment including pumps and motors, plumbing blockages, electrical components, program televisions, assist with preparation and painting of surfaces, conduct small repairs, replace bulbs and air conditioner filters
  • Use lockout/tagout system before maintenance work
  • Utilize engineering software related to preventive maintenance, energy management and other systems
  • Train and guide other engineers
  • Perform guard engineer duties including readings and rounds
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents or injuries
  • Complete safety training and certifications
  • Store flammable materials properly
  • Maintain professional appearance and uniform
  • Protect company property and confidentiality
  • Greet and recognize all guests according to company standards
  • Anticipate guest service needs and respond accordingly
  • Assist persons with disabilities
  • Ensure quality standards and expectations are met
  • Cultivate positive work relationships and support team objectives
  • Communicate clearly and professionally
  • Move, lift, push, pull and place objects up to 50 pounds unaided
  • Climb stairs, service ramps or ladders
