Job Requirements
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel standards
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags
- Comply with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations
- Capable of medium work exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Long hours sometimes required
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Job Qualifications
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field, or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of related experience, or a 2-year college degree with 2 or more years of related experience
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- Approach all encounters with an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
- Must be effective in listening, understanding, and clarifying concerns
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Must be effective in handling and solving problems
- Able to understand and evaluate complex information and data
Job Duties
- Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees at all times
- Respond to guest requests, problems, complaints, and accidents efficiently and courteously
- Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all Rooms Division personnel according to Highgate Hotel SOPs
- Assist in preparing and conducting Rooms Division interviews and support Human Resources recruiting efforts
- Develop employee morale and ensure training of Rooms Division personnel
- Maintain professional working relationships and promote open communication with managers, employees, and other departments
- Ensure implementation of all Highgate Hotel policies and house rules
- Monitor oversold dates to maximize rooms revenue
- Tour Rooms operating departments daily to greet employees and solicit feedback
- Ensure compliance with Standard of the Week training and effective training steps
- Review occupancy and rates daily to assist in maximizing room revenue
- Attend daily and monthly Rooms Merchandizing meetings
- Assist in completing monthly reforecast
- Monitor and support the corporate Guest Recognition Program
- Monitor expenses to control costs and maximize profit
- Conduct walk-throughs to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met
- Perform performance reviews for Rooms Managers and ensure compliance in administering reviews
- Monitor budgeted labor productivity through schedule approvals
- Prepare department heads for succession by developing their skill sets
- Operate Front Office computer system, including report generation and programming
- Assist in preparation of revenue and occupancy forecasting
- Carry a pager at all times and communicate professionally with hotel staff
- Coordinate implementation of Highgate Hotel philosophy of service
- Be knowledgeable of corporate marketing programs and ensure staff compliance
- Monitor VIPs, special guests, and requests
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
