The role of a Housekeeper is integral in maintaining the overall quality and cleanliness of our guest rooms and hotel areas. As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for the daily cleaning of rooms including vacant dirty rooms and occupied ones to a clean status, following detailed cleaning procedures and timelines to ensure efficiency. Attention to detail is critical as you will also maintain public areas, restrooms, and other back-of-house spaces. You must be prepared physically for tasks that require standing, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds, and pushing or pulling equipment up to 60 pounds. The role demands excellent communication skills to respond to guest requests promptly and professionally, as well as the ability to operate computer-based systems such as Quore and Hotel Effectiveness for efficient task management.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to perform major life activities including standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating
  • Must be able to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift or carry 30 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel
  • Must be able to see and hear
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other associates and guests
  • Must pass appropriate security clearances
  • Must demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness at all times
  • Must be physically present at the hotel and able to work any day or shift including weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior housekeeping experience in lodging, housing, hotels, hospitals, or care facilities preferred
  • Knowledge of proper handling of linens, terry and other supplies with sanitation and cost controls
  • Familiarity with guestroom cleaning procedures and safety and security measures
  • Ability to maintain designated minutes per room and follow systematic cleaning procedures
  • Professional communication skills with guests and co-workers
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Basic computer skills to use systems such as Quore and Hotel Effectiveness
  • Ability to exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous, professional manner
  • Clean vacant dirty rooms and return occupied dirty rooms to clean status within specified time and accuracy constraints
  • Maintain a crisp, clean and professional appearance adhering to grooming and uniform standards
  • Follow all cleaning procedures as outlined in the housekeeping training and checklist
  • Assist in maintaining other hotel areas including breakrooms, restrooms, public areas, stairwells, and back-of-house areas
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and inquiries
  • Report any discrepancies or hazardous conditions to immediate supervisor
