The Room Attendant (RA) position at Sonesta International Hotels plays a vital role in upholding the high standards of hospitality the brand is known for. Reporting to the Housekeeping Management Team, Room Attendants are responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms, public spaces, and commercial laundry facilities as applicable. This full-time role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and dedication to delivering an outstanding guest experience. The Room Attendant’s duties include making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, and managing waste removal. They may also clean kitchen appliances and other room amenities to ensure a spotless environment. The role involves working with commercial laundry machines by inspecting, washing, drying, folding, and storing linens properly, while also monitoring supply levels and machines' operational status. Safety and compliance with health regulations are integral to this position.

The position offers a competitive pay range from $25.50 to $26.50 per hour, following contract guidelines. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • some previous housekeeping experience
  • ability to speak and understand English preferred
  • physical ability to perform duties including standing, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 75 pounds
  • ability to use commercial cleaning chemicals safely
  • availability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • willingness to adhere to health and safety regulations
  • strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction

Job Qualifications

  • Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • previous background in the extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred
  • other languages beneficial
  • basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities preferred
  • ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about facility frequently
  • ability to carry, lift, or pull items up to 75 pounds
  • capable of using commercial cleaning chemicals
  • willing to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • respond to guest complaints and special requests and ensure corrective action to achieve complete guest satisfaction
  • clean and service assigned rooms or areas including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, and removing trash
  • clean kitchen areas, room refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and dishware as needed
  • notify supervisor when service is completed so rooms may be sold or occupied
  • report rooms unable to be serviced to supervisor
  • monitor laundry supplies and equipment when assigned to laundry
  • operate washers and dryers according to standards and guidelines
  • receive soiled linens and inspect for damaged or stained items
  • fold and store clean linens and report damages to supervisor
  • minimize waste of supplies and amenities
  • assist with deep cleaning projects regularly
  • report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • handle lost and found items according to procedures
  • promote teamwork and quality service through communication and coordination with other shifts and management
  • ensure compliance with health and safety laws
  • perform other duties as assigned
