The Sanctuary of St. Cloud is a welcoming and affordable senior living community located conveniently near Highway 10 and County 23 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. This established community specializes in providing compassionate and supportive care to seniors through its 101 Assisted Living and 36 Memory Care apartments. The role of the Registered Nurse (RN) at the Sanctuary of St. Cloud is pivotal in maintaining the health and safety of assisted living and memory care residents. This position offers a flexible day-shift schedule totaling 80 hours over two weeks, with shifts arranged collaboratively between the nurse and the hiring leader. The schedule includes occasional weekend and holiday rotations and qualifies for a full benefits package including an RN student loan repayment program, underscoring the organization's commitment to supporting its nursing staff.
The RN is responsible for conducting initial and ongoing health assessments of residents, complying with Minnesota’s Assisted Living regulations and Nurse Practice Act. They collaborate closely with residents and their families to provide education and communicate timely care updates. The nurse ensures individualized emergency plans and advance care directives are developed and maintained. Key responsibilities include managing medication and treatment administration, coordinating with healthcare providers, and overseeing documentation to maintain accurate and secure clinical records.
This role also involves supervisory responsibilities, such as training and orienting new staff, monitoring performance, and planning work assignments. The RN works alongside various internal teams and external providers to guarantee seamless service delivery. Job Requirements
- Associates degree in nursing
- Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Less than 1 year nursing experience
- Basic Life Support certification
- Ability to work 80 hours in two weeks on day shifts
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
- Willingness to comply with state and federal regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare providers
- Competency in computerized documentation
- Physical ability to perform nursing duties and supervision
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree in nursing
- Licensed as a Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Knowledge of Minnesota Assisted Living regulations and Nurse Practice Act
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use computerized documentation systems
- Experience with medication administration and treatment protocols
- Leadership and supervisory experience preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Prior experience in home care or assisted living environment preferred
- Minimum of less than 1 year nursing experience required
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with healthcare teams and external providers
Job Duties
- Maintains current assessment and documentation of resident health status
- Performs initial and ongoing assessments per Minnesota Assisted Living regulations and Nurse Practice Act
- Works with residents and responsible parties through collaboration, education, and timely communication
- Ensures residents have up-to-date service agreements at admission and annually
- Develops and implements individual emergency plans including Advance Care Planning documents
- Maintains clinical charts and progress notes using computerized systems
- Communicates changes in resident conditions and performs appropriate follow-up
- Coordinates resident health services with internal and external providers
- Assures physician orders are signed and implemented in compliance with regulations
- Manages and oversees medication and treatment administration
- Orders medications and supplies timely
- Ensures medication and treatment orders are renewed as necessary
- Oversees filling of medi boxes, bubble packs, and syringes according to medication orders
- Ensures proper medication administration procedures are followed and addresses issues
- Maintains accuracy of medication and treatment records
- Monitors performance of licensed and unlicensed staff
- Coordinates care and care issues with staff
- Plans and delegates work assignments to staff
- Interviews, trains, and orients new employees
- Supports staff as needed
- Assists Director of Health Services in staff performance evaluations
- Conducts Supervisory Visits
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Supports RN on-call duties
- Responds to calls related to resident health and safety
- Takes appropriate action in emergencies
- Collaborates with internal and external support providers
- Reports to DHS and Executive Director for further follow-up as needed
