Job Description

Bon Secours is a faith-based, patient-focused healthcare organization dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of all individuals in mind, body, and spirit through exceptional patient care. Established with a mission grounded in compassion, collaboration, excellence, and respect, Bon Secours continually strives to foster an environment where associates are motivated to deliver the highest quality service and contribute to thriving communities. Known for its commitment to human dignity, integrity, service, and stewardship, the organization caters to a broad spectrum of healthcare needs through various hospitals and medical facilities. This commitment is reflected in the culture, values, and operational philosophy at Bon Secours, ensuring that each patient’s experience is marked by compassionate care and professionalism. Employees at Bon Secours are valued for embodying these core values, contributing positively not only to patient outcomes but also to the broader social and spiritual mission of the organization.

The RN House Supervisor role at Bon Secours, specifically within the St. Francis Downtown and Eastside locations, is a pivotal leadership position in the hospital setting. This role is responsible for maintaining the continuity of patient care in the absence of unit nurse managers and directors across all areas of the hospital. The RN House Supervisor acts as a critical liaison between hospital personnel, patients, and departmental resources, ensuring that care standards remain safe, efficient, and patient-centered. This position demands excellent clinical and leadership skills, with the individual tasked with supervising nursing activities, allocating patient care assignments according to staff capabilities and patient needs, and evaluating the quality of care rendered. The RN House Supervisor must demonstrate accountability for both their own care delivery and the oversight of delegated care, always adhering to ethical and legal standards.

In addition to clinical oversight, the RN House Supervisor collaborates with various stakeholders, including Resource Optimization Centers and supply chain teams, to manage patient care dynamically and efficiently. They are required to respond promptly to emergency codes throughout the hospital and are responsible for directing staff accordingly during these critical moments. Effective communication and teamwork are essential as they engage with interdisciplinary teams to address patient and unit concerns, implement problem-solving strategies, and support hospital policies and standards. The role also involves ongoing evaluation of patient conditions, census, and acuity levels, making necessary adjustments to assignments and workflow to optimize care delivery.

The ideal candidate for this role has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred) and must hold a current Registered Nurse license in their practicing state, including those covered by the Nurse Licensure Compact. Required certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Nurse Executive or designated specialty certifications preferred. With a minimum of two years nursing experience, including one year of clinical experience, and preferably charge nurse or management experience, the RN House Supervisor is expected to bring strong leadership and communication skills. Other important capabilities include conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement, mentoring, strategic planning, and the ability to manage a diverse and dynamic workforce.

Bon Secours offers competitive pay, incentives, and referral bonuses as well as comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, and mental health resources. Employees also enjoy paid time off, family leave, disability insurance, tuition assistance, and ongoing professional development opportunities. This role, like all positions at Bon Secours, emphasizes a culture where ethical principles, corporate compliance, and patient safety programs are upheld. Bon Secours is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals.
