Job Description
The hiring establishment is a prominent healthcare facility that operates an Emergency Department (ED) providing critical and time-sensitive care to patients in urgent need. This facility is committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services with a strong emphasis on patient-centered care, safety, and quality outcomes. It is part of a larger hospital system renowned for its comprehensive emergency services and cutting-edge medical technology. This healthcare institution values professional growth, collaboration among multidisciplinary teams, and fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff alike.
The role available is for an RN Coordinator within the Emergency Department. This position is ideal for a registered professional nurse who is passionate about leadership, clinical excellence, and team development in a fast-paced clinical environment. The RN Coordinator acts as the key support for the Nurse Manager/Director and assumes responsibility for shift leadership across the department around the clock, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This leadership role involves providing structure and support to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals while ensuring that care delivered to patients and their families is age-appropriate and meets high standards of clinical quality.
An RN Coordinator’s responsibilities go beyond clinical nursing; they include effective resource management, fostering positive employee relations, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures. This role demands critical thinking, creativity, and sound decision-making to optimize unit operations. The RN Coordinator is a mentor and coach who empowers staff through support and guidance while facilitating change initiatives designed to improve patient flow and department efficiency.
The position plays an essential role in clinical coverage, offering hands-on patient care leadership when necessary and serving as a clinical expert. Collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Director involves staff development, performance evaluations, and working closely with other nursing coordinators to ensure smooth patient throughput. The RN Coordinator often represents the Nurse Manager/Director during their absence, making this a vital leadership role in the emergency setting.
Employment type for this position is typically full-time, with a variable shift schedule to cover the ED’s 24/7 operations. Compensation is competitive and reflects the critical nature of this leadership nursing role within the healthcare system. Candidates will be expected to exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills, strong patient advocacy, and the ability to thrive under pressure while supporting a highly dynamic and sometimes unpredictable clinical environment. This role is fundamental to maintaining the department’s standard of outstanding customer service and respectful interactions with all stakeholders, including patients, families, and staff.
