This particular opening is for a Retail Store Manager position at the new Waterside location in Marina del Rey, California, scheduled to launch in October. This role is crucial for the management and operational success of the store. The Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing staff, managing day-to-day operations, and maintaining the visual and business presentation of the store. They serve as a leader and role model, consistently embodying New Balance's core values to create a motivating and high-performance work environment. The position requires setting strategic direction, managing budgets and sales goals, and cultivating a customer-focused culture defined by the NB GUEST service model. Store Managers also take ownership of recruiting and developing a high-quality team, emphasizing continuous growth, coaching, and employee engagement.

In this leadership capacity, the manager must think creatively to drive store traffic and implement effective sales strategies. They manage the weekly and monthly operational rhythms necessary for an efficient store, like staffing, merchandising, loss prevention, and inventory control. Moreover, the manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety protocols and fostering positive employee relations with open communication channels throughout the store.

The role has a defined pay range of $62,800 to $94,225 annually, varying based on experience, internal equity, location, and time in the role. This competitive salary is complemented by a rich benefits package.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 3-6 years store management experience with some stores in high volume areas requiring more
  • B.A. in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office
  • understanding of how to develop staff through staffing, coaching, counseling
  • knowledge of retail operations such as sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention
  • willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • ability to lift 4 lbs constantly, lift maximum 8 lbs occasionally, kneel or squat frequently, move boxes up to 50 lbs with assistance if necessary, stand for extended periods, climb ladders occasionally, climb and descend stairs frequently

Job Qualifications

  • B.A. in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office

  • 3-6 years’ store management experience
