Job Description

Rail Events Productions, a subsidiary of American Heritage Railways, is known for delivering immersive, unique entertainment experiences that combine historical train travel with intricate live performances. One of their standout productions is the Harry PotterTM: A Hogwarts Express Adventure, an interactive show that takes place on a moving train and offers guests a magical journey into the world of Harry Potter. This seasonal event attracts over 2,000 guests and features a dedicated cast and crew of 40-50 people working on-site daily. The company emphasizes safety, employee development, and fostering an inclusive environment where teamwork and high standards are paramount. They are committed to supporting their staff with proper training and encouragement through the fast-paced and rewarding production process.

The Retail Agent role within Rail Events Productions is a pivotal position situated in the Rail Events Production division’s Front of House department. This is a non-exempt, hourly seasonal role that pays $20.00 per hour. Retail Agents play an essential part in ensuring seamless retail operations in tandem with Front of House and Business Managers, under the guidance of the Retail Supervisor. The position is guest-facing, involving direct interaction with customers to create a welcoming and memorable first impression. Retail Agents are tasked with providing outstanding customer service, managing cash and point-of-sale transactions accurately, and maintaining the visual merchandising standards that reflect the immersive Harry Potter experience. They must remain highly organized, adaptable, and communicative in a dynamic work setting that involves fast-paced activity aboard a moving train environment. This role requires standing and walking on uneven surfaces and working both indoors and outdoors in a range of weather conditions. Employees in this position need to be reliable team players who can help maintain a positive atmosphere while executing opening and closing retail operations with precision. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse guests and team members
  • Ability to stand and walk on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
  • Willingness to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and overtime
  • Ability to adapt to changing weather conditions indoors and outdoors
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn POS system
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred
  • Strong collaborator with an elevated level of reliability, organization and accountability
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with guests and team members
  • Proven commitment to delivering exceptional guest focused service and creating memorable experiences
  • Cash handling experience a plus
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is a plus
  • Possess a friendly, well-spoken manner in personal communications

Job Duties

  • Greet guests as they enter the retail space, offering a warm, welcoming presence while assisting with questions, purchases, and overall service needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment that reflects the immersive experience
  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for guests seeking information about merchandise or the event
  • Support merchandising efforts, including product displays, restocking, and ensuring all retail locations are properly restocked
  • Learn and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Collaborate with the full event team to foster a positive, engaging, and enjoyable atmosphere for both guests and staff
  • Assist with daily opening procedures, as well as closing tasks to reset and prepare for the next event day
  • Additional duties as needed
