Job Description

Shake Shack is a leading hospitality brand that started as a humble hot dog cart in New York City's Madison Square Park, founded by Danny Meyer, the CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and author of the best-selling book Setting the Table. It has grown into one of the fastest-expanding restaurant chains, renowned for its commitment to high-quality food, exceptional hospitality, and strong community connections. Shake Shack’s roots in fine dining and its dedication to community enhancement reflect its unique philosophy to "Stand for Something Good" in everything it does. This philosophy extends from its team members to its customers and neighborhoods, creating a culture that puts people first and fosters unforgettable experiences. With a focus on inclusivity, mentorship, and development, Shake Shack offers a vibrant, supportive workplace that encourages personal and professional growth. Employees, known as the #ShackFam, benefit from comprehensive training, mentorship programs, and diverse career advancement opportunities within an energetic and fun environment. Joining Shake Shack means being part of a community that values doing the right thing and making a positive impact beyond the restaurant doors.

The role of the Shift Leader at Shake Shack is vital in maintaining the company’s high standards of service, quality, and safety during each shift. This position involves managing the flow of daily operations, leading and motivating the team to ensure smooth service delivery, and enhancing guest satisfaction. As a shift leader, you will be responsible for directing team members on shift tasks, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and managing cleanliness and quality standards throughout the restaurant. You will play an essential part in recruiting, training, and developing hourly team members, helping to build a strong, collaborative, and high-performing team. This role also involves supporting operational functions such as purchasing, receiving, and inventory management, ensuring the restaurant is stocked and runs efficiently. Communication skills and problem-solving abilities are critical in this position, as you will assist with employee relations and participate in applicant interviews to help grow the team. This leadership opportunity offers the chance to develop foundational management skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment while contributing to the overall success and growth of the brand. Shake Shack provides a competitive compensation package, including weekly pay and performance bonuses, along with extensive benefits designed to support the wellbeing and career development of its team members.
