Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain known for its signature burgers and commitment to quality service. Founded in 1950, Whataburger has grown into a nationally recognized brand celebrated for its bold flavors and dedication to its team and community. With a strong culture rooted in leadership, teamwork, and integrity, Whataburger continues to be a top employer in the quick-service restaurant industry. This establishment fosters an environment where employees are encouraged to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact every shift they work.

The position of Shift Leader at Whataburger is a pivotal role designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and desire to develop their leadership skills. As a Shift Leader, you will play a crucial role in driving operational excellence to ensure that every shift runs smoothly and efficiently. This position is not just about managing tasks — it’s about inspiring a team, mentoring family members (employees), and igniting motivation during busy hours. You will partner closely with Restaurant Management to sharpen leadership capabilities, support the building of a strong operational foundation, and ensure the restaurant meets high standards for quality, service, and cleanliness.

This role offers competitive weekly pay and flexible schedules with shifts available during the day, night, evening, and overnight, making it suitable for individuals seeking varied working hours. Additionally, Whataburger provides paid time off and a strong benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as short-term and long-term disability insurance. Career development opportunities abound, with clear paths to higher roles including the potential to earn a six-figure income as an Operating Partner. Whataburger also supports education through scholarships, free English language learning, and no-cost college-level courses. Other perks include discounted meals, wireless services, computer software, gym memberships, and recognition programs.

The Shift Leader is the spark that ensures every shift is seamless by leading the team, coaching new hires, motivating existing staff, and managing operations in line with company standards. You will uphold compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and sanitation rules while fostering a positive team culture marked by accountability and communication. This role offers significant opportunity for growth and development, providing you with the tools and experiences to propel your leadership journey within a supportive and inclusive company environment. At Whataburger, your efforts are not just seen — they are celebrated as essential ingredients in the recipe for success and customer satisfaction.
