Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain renowned for its iconic, made-to-order burgers and exceptional customer service. Founded in 1950, Whataburger has grown into a symbol of bold leadership and community engagement, with locations primarily across the southern United States. The company prides itself on cultivating a family-oriented environment where employees are valued and supported in their professional growth. Whataburger’s commitment to operational excellence and team collaboration creates a dynamic work atmosphere that motivates employees to perform their best and advance their careers.

As a Shift Leader at Whataburger, you play a vital role in keeping the restaurant running smoothly by driving operational excellence and leading the team during your shift. You will be the spark that keeps every shift efficient, ensuring quality service, maintaining cleanliness standards, and fostering a positive work culture. Serving with heart, you will coach and mentor Family Members, helping them develop their skills, confidence, and teamwork abilities. Your leadership will fuel collaboration during busy periods, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and success.

This position offers competitive weekly pay with flexible scheduling options, including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts, catering to diverse availability preferences. Shift Leaders at Whataburger are also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, 401(k) matching, disability coverage, and various discounts. This role presents a clear path to career advancement, with opportunities to grow into higher leadership positions, potentially reaching six-figure earnings as an Operating Partner.

The role involves a balance of hands-on management and team development, where you will support goals related to food and labor costs, sales performance, inventory management, and compliance with food safety and workplace regulations. You will actively contribute to building an environment of accountability, communication, and mutual respect. Shift Leaders also participate in ongoing training and leadership development sessions to enhance their skills and stay connected with the broader Whataburger organization.

Located in your home restaurant, you will primarily focus on leading your team and managing shift operations but may occasionally support neighboring locations or participate in market-wide initiatives. Whataburger values diversity, equity, and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities and complying with federal programs like E-Verify.

If you are at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have prior experience in coaching or team leadership, and are committed to reliable attendance and meeting physical demands, this Shift Leader role at Whataburger is an excellent opportunity to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Join Whataburger and bring your leadership flavor to a company dedicated to nurturing talent and serving up success with every shift.
