Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain that has been serving customers since 1950. Known for its iconic burgers and strong commitment to quality and service, Whataburger has grown to become a favorite destination for food lovers across the southern United States and beyond. The company prides itself on investing in people who lead with integrity, serve with heart, and bring their best flavor to the team. Whataburger fosters a positive work environment where teamwork, open communication, and mutual respect are foundational values. The company is dedicated to supporting career growth and development, offering employees clear pathways for advancement and opportunities to build valuable leadership skills. Whataburger’s culture emphasizes the importance of working together, having fun on the grill, and winning as one team, making it an exciting place for individuals eager to make an impact and grow professionally.

The Shift Leader role at Whataburger is crucial for maintaining operational excellence and ensuring that every shift runs smoothly and efficiently. Shift Leaders act as the spark that keeps the restaurant firing on all cylinders by leading shift management to uphold quality, service, and cleanliness standards. They play a pivotal role in coaching, training, and motivating Family Members, helping new hires ketchup on skills quickly while providing seasoned team members with growth opportunities. Shift Leaders support the restaurant’s goals related to food cost control, labor management, sales performance, and inventory accuracy. They ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and other regulatory requirements.

The position offers competitive weekly pay, flexible scheduling options including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts, paid time off, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits. Additional perks include short-term and long-term disability coverage, 401(k) matching up to 4%, scholarship programs through the Whataburger Family Foundation, hardship grant assistance, no-cost English language learning, free and reduced-tuition college courses, and various discounts on meals, wireless services, computers, software, and fitness memberships. Whataburger also recognizes employee achievements and celebrates retirements, fostering a supportive and rewarding workplace.

Shift Leaders work primarily in their home restaurant but may occasionally provide leadership support at neighboring locations or within the local market. The role requires strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about leading teams, enjoy working in a dynamic food service setting, and are committed to developing their leadership capabilities while contributing to the success of a well-established restaurant brand. Whataburger is an equal opportunity employer, embracing diversity and inclusion in the workplace and ensuring equal employment opportunities for all individuals.
