The role of Restaurant Server at Hotel Haya is an integral part of the Food and Beverage (F&B) team, reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager. This is a non-exempt position centered on delivering exceptional guest experiences through attentive and knowledgeable service. The ideal candidate for this role is someone passionate about hospitality, food culture, and guest satisfaction. With a minimum of one year of experience in restaurant or banquet service, this role demands a professional who understands the nuances of service techniques and can perform effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The Restaurant Server at Hotel Haya is more than just an order-taker; they act as the curator of memorable dining experiences. They will be responsible for welcoming guests warmly, comprehensively understanding menu items and ingredients, and effectively communicating with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages. The server must also have a keen awareness of guest allergies and dietary restrictions to promote safe dining experiences. Ongoing training in beverage tasting and menu knowledge is provided to enhance the server's expertise in beers, wines, and spirits.

Team collaboration, reliability, and proactive assistance are emphasized within this role. Servers are expected to maintain a polished appearance, arrive prepared for shifts, and engage in transparent and positive relationships with their peers and leadership. They also take part in daily briefings and quarterly meetings aimed at improving service standards and sharing feedback to overcome challenges.

Job Requirements

  • Passion for people, place and culture of the community
  • Minimum of one year experience in restaurant or banquet service
  • TiPS Alcohol service certification and SafeStaff certificate or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • Must meet local age requirements for alcohol service
  • Availability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to continuously stand and walk for 4-5 hours
  • Fine motor coordination
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Excellent sight and balance
  • Ability to handle lighted candles and hot fluids

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience as a restaurant or event/banquet server
  • TiPS Alcohol service certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • SafeStaff Certificate of Completion or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of food and beverage menus and service techniques

Job Duties

  • Uphold and model the company’s principles of People, Place and Character
  • Assist in all aspects of a guest’s experience from beginning to end by extending a friendly greeting and ensuring proper steps of service
  • Participate in daily line ups and quarterly meetings to develop ideas and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain working knowledge of menus, ingredients, and alcohol service laws
  • Serve food and beverages based on guest requests while respecting health and safety measures
  • Ensure workstations are clean, organized, and demonstrate a sense of urgency for guest requests
  • Communicate with F&B and Culinary teams to ensure timely and accurate food delivery
  • Assist in other F&B areas as needed including banquets, bar, café, in-room dining, pool, and restaurants
