Job Description
Taco Bell is a leading fast-food restaurant chain known for its innovative Mexican-inspired menu items and a commitment to providing fast, affordable, and high-quality service to its customers worldwide. As part of a global brand with thousands of restaurants, Taco Bell emphasizes a vibrant work culture that fosters employee development, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. The company prides itself on maintaining rigorous standards of cleanliness, hospitality, and service speed, which contribute to its strong reputation and loyal customer base. Taco Bell restaurants operate in diverse communities, and the company is dedicated to inclusivity, teamwork, and career growth opportunities for its employees at all levels.
The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at Taco Bell plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of a single restaurant unit. This leadership role requires hands-on involvement in day-to-day restaurant functions, setting a standard for the team in areas such as food quality, guest service, cleanliness, and employee development. The RGM is directly responsible for controlling costs related to food, labor, cash, and other operational expenses, adhering to company budget guidelines. They lead by example, performing operational tasks as needed to support the team, train employees, and actively respond to guest concerns to enhance overall customer experience.
The RGM is accountable for driving sales growth through continuous improvements in core operational metrics including the 5 Bells customer experience measure, CORE standards, speed of service, and food quality. Staffing management is another critical component, where the RGM ensures adequate scheduling to meet daily and peak hour demands. They also conduct performance appraisals and participate actively in the recruitment and hiring of new crew members, shift leaders, and assistant general managers. Employee coaching, training, and certification development remain a high priority to build a well-qualified, motivated, and service-oriented team.
Maintaining restaurant cleanliness and adhering to all food service sanitation regulations is an essential responsibility of the RGM, as is ensuring the overall safety of the restaurant environment for employees and guests. The manager oversees preventative maintenance and coordinates with the maintenance department and area coach for any necessary repairs. The RGM must respond promptly and skillfully to guest complaints to promote repeat business and maintains open communication with their area coach through daily updates and weekly meetings. Emphasizing a positive work environment, the RGM practices effective employee selection and retention strategies to minimize turnover and bolster team morale.
This position requires flexibility in scheduling, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to thrive under fast-paced conditions with frequent changes. The RGM role is integral to Taco Bell's mission of delivering outstanding food service and customer satisfaction, while also fostering employee growth and operational excellence within the restaurant unit. The company values internal promotion, often preferring candidates who have progressed from assistant general manager positions and have completed relevant training. Taco Bell offers a dynamic work environment where motivated leaders can develop meaningful careers in the foodservice industry.
