Job Description
Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain renowned for its commitment to quality, service, and community values. Founded in 1950, Whataburger has grown into a reputable brand recognized for its iconic burgers, welcoming atmosphere, and dedication to employee growth and development. With a focus on bold leadership and a culture that fosters teamwork and respect, Whataburger offers more than just a job; it provides a career path with opportunities to grow and achieve significant milestones in the food service industry. The company emphasizes integrity, inclusion, and a collaborative spirit that makes every team member feel valued and essential to the company’s success.
The Restaurant Manager role at Whataburger is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing a high-volume restaurant with average annual sales exceeding 4 million dollars and managing a team of over fifty Family Members. This role demands a versatile leader who can excel in various areas including customer service, quality control, and people management. The Restaurant Manager will rotate through different areas of responsibility to build comprehensive leadership skills, positioning themselves for future opportunities such as becoming an Operating Partner. This dynamic role involves supporting operational performance, fostering team development, collaborating with leadership partners, and driving continuous improvement. The manager will play a critical role in maintaining the Whataburger standard of excellence by ensuring the delivery of outstanding food and service to every guest.
As a Restaurant Manager, you will lead daily operations to meet and exceed standards for quality, service, cleanliness, and safety. You will cultivate a hospitality-focused environment where every guest experience feels warm, fast, and authentically Whataburger. Developing Family Members to their full potential through coaching and support is a core responsibility. You will also be accountable for achieving the restaurant’s financial goals, including sales, labor, food costs, and overall profitability. By upholding food safety, workplace safety, and company brand standards, you will create a positive and inclusive workplace culture that embodies Whataburger’s values. This hands-on leadership role requires managing shift transitions smoothly, guiding talent development, and assisting with strategic business planning and performance reviews.
This full-time position offers a competitive weekly pay structure, including a bonus program with up to 2.5 times upside potential. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays such as Christmas, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) match program that contributes dollar-for-dollar up to 4% of salary. Whataburger also provides competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with short-term and long-term disability coverage. The company supports career development with clear pathways to six-figure incomes for Operating Partners. Additional perks include scholarship programs for dependents through the Whataburger Family Foundation, access to free English-language learning, college-level course offerings, and tuition reduction options. Employees enjoy discounted meals, wireless service, computer and software discounts, gym memberships, and various recognition awards. Retirement celebration programs and a supportive company culture round out the comprehensive benefits and opportunities offered to Whataburger Restaurant Managers.
Based primarily in your home restaurant, you will lead your team and manage daily operations while occasionally supporting nearby locations or broader market initiatives. Participation in business meetings, training sessions, and leadership development programs will cultivate your skills and keep you connected with the larger Whataburger organization. This company is committed to equal employment opportunities and supports diversity in the workplace, ensuring all employees and applicants receive fair and inclusive treatment regardless of protected characteristics. Working at Whataburger means joining a brand dedicated to making a difference by nurturing leadership, valuing teamwork, and relentlessly pursuing excellence in every aspect of the guest and employee experience.
