Job Description
Whataburger is a renowned American fast-food restaurant chain, celebrated for its distinctive and delicious burgers. Established in 1950, Whataburger has grown to become a beloved brand that prides itself on quality food, exceptional service, and a strong commitment to community and employee development. The company operates numerous locations across several states, providing a dynamic and exciting work environment where employees are valued and encouraged to grow both professionally and personally. Known for its iconic orange-and-white-striped buildings and its family-oriented atmosphere, Whataburger is dedicated to delivering great food and creating memorable experiences for its customers every day. Its strong company culture emphasizes integrity, teamwork, and leadership development, making it a preferred employer in the fast-food industry.
The role of a Restaurant Manager at Whataburger is a pivotal position within the organization, responsible for overseeing a high-volume restaurant with average annual sales exceeding $4 million and managing a team of more than fifty Family Members. This full-time role demands a leader who can create and sustain an environment where excellent food, outstanding service, and effective teamwork are the norm. Restaurant Managers rotate through various Areas of Responsibility (AORs), such as Customer Service, Quality Assurance, and People Management, to build comprehensive leadership skills. This rotational approach prepares managers for future advancement opportunities, including the potential to become Operating Partners who can earn a six-figure income. The Restaurant Manager plays a critical role in supporting operational performance, developing team members, and driving continuous improvements that enhance both restaurant operations and personal leadership growth.
Employees in this role benefit from competitive weekly pay, an incentivized bonus program with a 2.5 times upside potential, and a comprehensive package of paid time off and holidays, including Christmas. Additional benefits include paid parental leave, a 401(k) matching program up to 4%, and competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance options. Whataburger also offers short-term and long-term disability coverage, comprehensive education benefits with access to free English language courses, college-level classes, and tuition reduction programs. The company supports its employees with the Whataburger Family Foundation, which provides scholarships for dependents and hardship grant assistance. Restaurant Managers enjoy discounted meals, wireless service discounts, computer and software discounts, gym and fitness discounts, awards and recognition programs, and retirement celebration initiatives.
The daily responsibilities of a Restaurant Manager at Whataburger encompass leading operations to meet high standards of quality, service, and cleanliness. Managers champion hospitality, ensuring customers experience friendly, fast, and authentic Whataburger service. They coach and support their teams to realize their full potential while being accountable for meeting restaurant goals related to sales, labor, food costs, and profitability. Ensuring food safety, maintaining workplace safety, and upholding brand standards are key priorities. Managers serve as role models by embodying Whataburger's values and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. They oversee shift transitions, guide talent development, training, hiring, and retention efforts in collaboration with the restaurant leadership team, and support business planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Whataburger is not just a fast-food chain; it is a place where bold leadership begins and where employees have the chance to make a real impact. The company values integrity, teamwork, and personal growth, offering a clear pathway for career advancement and leadership development. Operating at the heart of local communities, Whataburger cultivates an environment that encourages collaboration, open communication, and a spirit of fun and recognition. Restaurant Managers are essential to bringing the company's mission to life every day, ensuring that the team delivers the best possible experience to guests while building their own careers within the company.
