Job Description
Taco Bell is a leading fast-food restaurant chain known for its innovative Mexican-inspired menu and commitment to providing quick, quality service in a clean and inviting environment. With thousands of locations across the United States and internationally, Taco Bell focuses on delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining operational excellence and fostering a positive workplace culture. The company is recognized for its dedication to sustainability, community engagement, and employee development, making it a preferred employer in the fast-food industry. The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) role at Taco Bell is pivotal to the success of each individual unit, serving as the frontline leader who ensures that all operational standards and company policies are executed efficiently and effectively.
The Restaurant General Manager oversees all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring high standards in cleanliness, hospitality, accuracy, building maintenance, product quality, and speed of service are consistently met. This role entails direct supervision and leadership of the team, including the hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of crew members, shift managers, and assistant general managers. The RGM is accountable for the overall profitability of the restaurant, actively managing food costs, labor expenses, cash handling, and other controllable costs to meet budgeted levels.
Beyond typical managerial responsibilities, the RGM is hands-on in daily operations, stepping into various roles when necessary to train employees, address guest concerns, and model the appropriate skills and behaviors. They play a vital role in driving sales growth by focusing on key performance metrics such as the 5 Bells service standard, CORE operational processes, speed of service, and food quality. Maintaining adequate staffing levels to meet the demands of all shifts is essential to ensuring smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
Additionally, the Restaurant General Manager ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as all local, state, and federal employment laws. They are responsible for maintaining a safe restaurant environment for both employees and guests, conducting regular checks and taking corrective actions as needed. Preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities also falls under their purview, requiring close collaboration with maintenance teams and area coaches.
The RGM's success is measured by their ability to achieve specific performance goals, including sales growth, cost control, labor management, and guest satisfaction scores. They must communicate results effectively with their area coach through daily and weekly reporting channels. The role demands strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and organizational skills, along with the flexibility to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A commitment to personal and team development is crucial, as the RGM plays a significant role in preparing their staff for advancement within the company.

The position requires an individual who thrives in a challenging environment and is committed to driving results through teamwork and operational rigor. With a foundation in service-oriented leadership, the RGM helps shape the culture and success of their restaurant, making a direct impact on customer satisfaction and business profitability.
