Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, operating one of the most recognized Australian-themed dining establishments. Founded in March 1988, Outback Steakhouse prides itself on delivering a unique dining experience that combines serious dedication to quality food with a fun, engaging atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its juicy steaks, spirited drinks, and warm, Aussie hospitality that treats every customer like a guest in their own home. Out West Restaurant Group is committed to fostering a culture of respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm among its employees, whom they affectionately call "Outbackers." Their business philosophy, centered around treating people "Just Right," encourages staff development, leading to a successful and thriving team-oriented environment.
As an employer, Out West Restaurant Group embraces diversity and equality, ensuring fair employment practices free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status under federal and state laws. They promote a supportive workplace that values opportunity, respect, and continuous professional growth. The company has been honored with multiple industry recognitions such as the Monitor 200 Award for being in the Top 50 Franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and the International Franchise Association’s Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022, highlighting their commitment to community service and excellence.
The role of Restaurant Manager at Outback Steakhouse offers a dynamic leadership opportunity within a well-established restaurant group known for its hospitable culture and high standards. This salaried position, with a competitive range of $68,000 - $75,000 annually, involves overseeing the daily operations of both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) functions with limited supervision. The Restaurant Manager ensures adherence to company standards, enhances customer experience, and provides professional leadership and guidance to the restaurant staff. They are responsible for optimizing operational efficiencies through effective labor and inventory management and must maintain compliances related to policies, safety, and sanitation.
Newly appointed managers will participate in an extensive Manager in Training (MIT) program designed to prepare them for success and leadership growth within the Outback family. This comprehensive 11-week on-site training ensures managers are well-equipped to handle the demands of the role while sustaining the high quality and presentation of the food, cleanliness, and service standards. Restaurant Managers are expected to lead by example, fostering an enjoyable and productive working environment, and actively contribute to the restaurant’s continuous growth via sales, marketing, and staff recruitment.
This full-time position targets a manageable 47-hour workweek to support a healthy work-life balance. The company offers several benefits, including comprehensive health insurance with medical, dental, and vision plans for individuals and families, paid vacation and sick leave, a 401(k) retirement plan, group life, AD&D, disability insurance, and additional perks such as discounts and employee assistance programs. Employees also enjoy a complimentary manager shift meal and the opportunity for career growth into upper management through tailored development programs.
The Outback Steakhouse Restaurant Manager role demands a passionate, detail-oriented individual capable of maintaining immaculate restaurant standards, managing safety and sanitation procedures rigorously, and ensuring every dish meets quality and presentation standards. This role requires strong communication skills, leadership ability, and the physical stamina to meet the workflow demands in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The company values dedication and hard work and supports their team with a culture that recognizes effort, perseverance, and leadership potential, creating a rewarding career path for motivated candidates.
