Job Description

California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) is a renowned casual dining restaurant chain known for its innovative approach to pizza making, blending creativity with high-quality ingredients. Founded in 1985 by former federal prosecutors Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, CPK introduced California creativity to every meal, pioneering popular dishes such as The Original BBQ Chicken, California Club, and Thai Chicken pizzas. These innovative, hearth-baked pizzas created in an open kitchen concept have placed California alongside Chicago and New York in the pizza revolution. With a vibrant company culture guided by its ROCKS philosophy—Respect, Opportunity, Communication, Kindness, and Service—CPK fosters an inclusive and inspiring environment where employees are encouraged to be bold, be epic, and bring their authentic selves to work. The company’s commitment to growth, passion, and community connection sets it apart in the restaurant industry.

The role at CPK is designed for a passionate and experienced Front of House (FOH) Manager who is eager to lead, inspire, and grow with a dynamic team. This management position involves delivering an exceptional guest experience, driving sales, profitability, and guest counts while maintaining high standards of hospitality and culinary execution. The FOH Manager will manage the restaurant's P&L, forecast and adjust labor expenditures, practice portion controls, prepare budgets, and analyze variances to meet financial objectives. A key aspect of the role is the development of top talent through cross-training and career growth opportunities, ensuring a people-first approach that strengthens CPK's best-in-class culture. The position demands excellent communication skills to interact effectively with employees, guests, suppliers, and senior management. The environment is fast-paced and requires maintaining a safe and healthy workspace by adhering to strict sanitation standards and procedures.

CPK offers a comprehensive eight-week training program that blends online, book, and shoulder-to-shoulder learning approaches to equip managers with the necessary skills to succeed. Unique to CPK is "The Proof," an engaging electronic learning platform that promotes continuous development. Employees benefit from competitive pay with bonus potential and a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and a 401K plan. The culture is employee-driven, exemplified by the Kindness Fund, which supports team members facing life challenges. The managerial role offers perks like all-you-can-eat pizza during shifts, a Management Dine-Out card, and an overall environment that values individual creativity and talent. CPK embraces diversity and inclusion, maintaining an equal opportunity policy that ensures everyone has a seat at their table. This position allows individuals with a minimum of two years FOH management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant to step into a leadership role that challenges and rewards in equal measure.
