Job Description
The restaurant is an independent franchisee operation of the well-known Del Taco brand, located at 1970 College Blvd, Oceanside, CA. As an independent franchisee, this establishment operates separately from Del Taco LLC, meaning that the franchisee is solely responsible for employment decisions including hiring, firing, wages, supervision, staffing, and scheduling. This model offers the autonomy to manage the operation according to local market needs and business strategies but still adheres to the high standards and branding requirements set by Del Taco. The restaurant is part of a respected quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain that blends Mexican and American food items, emphasizing quality, speed, and customer service. It has a strong reputation for delivering fresh ingredients, friendly service, and an inviting atmosphere to its customers.
The role of Restaurant Manager reporting to the Area Director is crucial for driving the brand’s success on-site. This position entails protecting and delivering the Del Taco brand experience, growing sales, and maximizing both efficiency and profitability. The Restaurant Manager achieves these goals by leading the restaurant team according to the Del Taco Way—this approach involves running effective operations, ensuring high quality products and service, and fostering a positive, productive work culture. Primary responsibilities include staffing the store with qualified team members, recruiting and retaining employees, ensuring all team members are trained and certified, and cultivating a service-oriented, fun, and collaborative work environment. Additionally, the Restaurant Manager is tasked with evaluating employee performance, recommending salary adjustments, and managing disciplinary actions.
The manager also oversees the flawless execution of Del Taco standards, processes, and systems. This includes maintaining the facility and equipment at safe operational conditions, delivering high-quality food products, adhering to cleaning schedules and uniforms, ensuring consistent service quality, and proper marketing signage throughout the restaurant. Sales goals are a key performance metric, with the manager responsible for setting and communicating daily, weekly, and yearly targets, optimizing staff deployment according to sales needs, increasing customer counts and average check sizes, and leveraging local marketing efforts to attract new customers.
Achieving financial targets is another essential aspect of the role. The Restaurant Manager maintains appropriate staffing levels compliant with labor laws, manages inventory to minimize waste and theft, enforces cash handling procedures, and conducts cash audits. They also implement safety and health standards while managing repair and maintenance costs. The position requires a flexible, hands-on leader capable of adapting to changing workloads, technological updates, and emergency situations. Overall, the Restaurant Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the operational excellence and profitability of the franchise location while enhancing the customer and employee experience under the trusted Del Taco brand.
