Job Description

Sweetgreen is a nationally recognized fast casual restaurant brand dedicated to building healthier communities through real food. Established in 2007, Sweetgreen has revolutionized the fast food industry by offering fresh, flavorful, and sustainable meals deeply rooted in relationships with local farmers and communities. Their core mission centers on connecting people with wholesome ingredients while prioritizing environmental sustainability and community welfare. Sweetgreen’s commitment extends beyond just the food experience, as they foster a culture that champions employee development, operational excellence, and inclusive growth. They aim to create spaces where food, people, and purpose converge, providing not only nutritious meals but also employment opportunities that inspire and cultivate future leaders within the restaurant industry. Sweetgreen is proud of its equal employment opportunities policy and places a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.

The role of Assistant Coach (Assistant General Manager) at Sweetgreen is an impactful leadership position responsible for supporting store operations as a leader, strategist, and mentor. This role focuses on inspiring and guiding team members, driving operational excellence, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. As an Assistant Coach, you will work closely with the Head Coach (General Manager) to set clear goals, monitor performance, and address challenges using data-driven insights. Your leadership will cultivate a positive, high-performing team culture that prioritizes food safety, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The position requires a hands-on approach, with responsibilities including active coaching during peak service times, supporting hiring and training initiatives, and managing operational tasks to uphold Sweetgreen’s high standards for food quality and cleanliness.

Moreover, the Assistant Coach oversees financial management tasks such as controlling costs, scheduling, and sales strategy implementation, using tools like the Operations Dashboard to make informed decisions. With a focus on technology and process improvement, this role ensures smooth daily operations and effective use of systems that enhance team deployment and execution efficiency. As part of the career progression, this position encompasses essential duties of Shift Leader, Kitchen Lead, and Team Member roles, enabling an in-depth understanding of store operations.

This full-time position offers a competitive starting salary range from $65,000 to $70,000 annually, with an additional 15% bonus potential. Sweetgreen also provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, paid vacation and wellness time, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid family leave, complimentary greens, and branded swag. The company supports continuous professional development and career growth within a collaborative and values-driven team environment. If you are passionate about making a real difference in the fast casual industry by promoting healthier eating habits and empowering teams, Sweetgreen’s Assistant Coach role is an excellent opportunity to join a purposeful brand that values innovation, leadership, and community impact.
