The Restaurant Line Cook at West Lake Country Club is a full-time position designed for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to deliver high-quality food service. This role involves preparing a variety of food products following the club's standard recipes and using various kitchen equipment and utensils in accordance with the daily prep list. The position demands a dedicated professional who understands the importance of kitchen safety, sanitation, and operational efficiency.
The Line Cook will be responsible for maintaining consistent standards of food preparation and presentation, ensuring all items meet the chef’s guidelines. This involves following portion control rules, preparing menu items correctly, keeping the kitchen clean and organized, and handling all food in a safe and sanitary manner. The role requires the Line Cook to have comprehensive knowledge of multiple food preparation stations while managing storage and refrigeration properly. Strong teamwork and communication are essential as the Line Cook works closely with kitchen supervisors and other staff to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a club, resort, hotel, or institutional kitchen environment, coupled with the necessary food safety certification. High personal standards regarding appearance, hygiene, and conduct are expected, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic workspace. This position also requires physical stamina as it involves standing for long periods and performing physically demanding tasks. Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience in club, resort, hotel, or institutional setting preferred
- Food safety certification
- Ability to cook and execute plate presentation properly
- Knowledge of local safety and sanitation policies
- Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual labor involving lifting up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work varying schedules including evenings, holidays, and extended hours
- Willingness to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Ability to handle physical demands and maintain composure under pressure
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking in a club, resort, hotel, or institutional setting preferred
- Food safety certification
- Demonstrated ability to cook and execute proper plate presentation
- Knowledge of local safety and sanitation policies
- Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
- Demonstrated results-oriented and capable of working with minimal direction

Job Duties
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with the Club’s standards, policies, and regulations to encourage safe and efficient kitchen operations
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with the Club’s standards
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Prepare menu items according to the chef’s standardized guidelines and recipes
- Follow portion control and presentation guidelines
- Maintain par levels for all regular menu items and follow a prep work checklist
- Learn all stations of food preparation and memorize menu items
- Ensure all coolers and storage areas are maintained in an orderly manner
- Ensure all food prep areas and food service equipment are clean and sanitary
- Cover, date, and neatly label all perishable food properly and accurately
- Handle all food in a safe and sanitary manner
- Assist in completing weekly kitchen cleaning and maintenance lists
- Assist in dishwashing duties as needed
- Keep walk-ins clean and organized
- Attend staff meetings, including pre-shift meetings and training
- Assist with the preparation of other food products as needed
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Sous Chef, or Supervisor
