Job Description

Cornbread is a well-established dining destination known for its commitment to quality, flavorful cuisine, and exceptional customer service. As a popular restaurant, Cornbread emphasizes creating an inviting atmosphere where guests can enjoy carefully prepared dishes that showcase both creativity and consistency. The hospitality industry is fast-paced and demands efficiency, teamwork, and passion for food. Cornbread has built its reputation on these values, aspiring to maintain high standards in all aspects of its operation from preparation to presentation. This commitment is supported by standard operating procedures and a culture that values continuous learning and professional development within the culinary team.

The role of the Line Cook at Cornbread is a fundamental position within the back-of-house team, playing a critical role in bringing the restaurant's menu to life. This role requires a highly skilled and efficient culinary professional responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes that meet Cornbread’s standards and the Department of Health regulations. The Line Cook must ensure that all food products are handled with care, following both safety guidelines and operational procedures to maximize quality and minimize waste. This position involves working collaboratively with both management and fellow kitchen staff to maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

In addition to food preparation, the Line Cook is charged with the upkeep of kitchen stations, including setup and breakdown tasks, rotating inventory, labeling and dating products, and alerting supervisors of any sub-par ingredients. The role demands a hands-on approach to maintaining kitchen equipment and assisting with inventory counts. The Line Cook must actively contribute to waste control and demonstrate safe work practices to prevent injury to themselves and others. An important part of this role is the continuous update of culinary knowledge and skills through staff training opportunities, supporting both personal growth and improved team performance.

This position suits individuals who thrive in a dynamic kitchen environment, are detail-oriented, organized, trustworthy, and safety-conscious. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting heavy loads, operating carts and hand trucks, and standing for extended periods. The job also requires flexibility to work indoors and occasionally outdoors, navigating various kitchen climates from hot stoves to coolers and walk-in freezers. Cornbread provides a professional work environment where ownership and pride in the business are encouraged, creating a rewarding experience for passionate culinary professionals seeking to develop their skills while contributing to the restaurant’s ongoing success.
