The Restaurant Host role at Neiman Marcus is a vital position focused on delivering warm, professional, and accommodating service to guests within their dining environment. This position is essential to maintaining the brand’s promise of exceptional service throughout every customer interaction, specifically within the restaurant setting. The host’s primary responsibility is to greet and seat customers with a high level of hospitality and professionalism while managing the flow of service to ensure an efficient and enjoyable dining experience. This includes using platforms such as OpenTable to handle reservations, including VIP requests, and coordinating seating arrangements to optimize both customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Hosts monitor server performance to ensure seamless service and assist with general inquiries about restaurant hours, specials, and events. This role emphasizes a keen attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Additionally, the Restaurant Host is tasked with maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards that reflect the luxury status of Neiman Marcus. The position requires physical stamina, including standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 35 pounds, as well as flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the business needs. Compensation for this role ranges from $20.79 to $25.99 per hour depending on geographic location, experience, and qualifications.

Job Duties

  • Maintains presence at host stand or door to professionally and graciously greet and seat customers
  • monitors server performance to ensure smooth service during the customers' dining experience
  • observes proper telephone etiquette
  • handles reservations through OpenTable platform including VIPs and any additional inquiries regarding hours of operation, specials, events, etc.
  • organizes reservations, maximizes seating during operating hours, and optimizes staffing and customer traffic
  • adheres to established accounting procedures for all transactions including all authorized methods of payment and maintains knowledge of the POS system
  • keeps flow of service to standards such as proper seating of customers to each wait station
  • participates in daily pre-shift meetings
  • fulfills duties that may involve lifting objects such as tables, chairs, highchairs
  • maintains cleanliness and presentability of all menus and menu covers
  • maintains the highest level of hygiene standards including clean, pressed uniform jacket and accompanying clothing and shoes
  • maintains clean and professionally styled hair and nails to avoid food contamination risks
  • adheres to posted work schedule and follows established procedures for schedule and shift changes
