Job Description
Burger King Corporation, one of the world’s leading fast-food restaurant chains, is known for its flame-grilled burgers and quick-service dining experience. With a global presence and a commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence, Burger King consistently sets industry standards in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) segment. Operating under strict corporate procedures and standards, each restaurant is designed to deliver an exceptional dining experience while maintaining cost-effectiveness and profitability. Burger King emphasizes employee development, customer service, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient restaurant environment.
The Assistant Restaurant Manager role at Burger King is a pivotal position responsible for profitably managing day-to-day operations within the framework set by Burger King Corporation and the respective franchise company. This role focuses heavily on cost control, maximizing restaurant profits, driving sales growth, and delivering outstanding customer service. The Assistant Manager is tasked with overseeing restaurant and employee appearance, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining the company’s image through rigorous adherence to cleanliness and uniform policies. This position requires hands-on leadership, including working the front counter to ensure quality service and customer satisfaction, as well as training and coaching employees to handle operational challenges and complaints professionally.
Beyond the operational responsibilities, this role requires managing labor through efficient scheduling in accordance with sales volumes, overseeing inventory controls to minimize waste and losses, and handling cash control duties including daily bank deposits and adherence to cash handling procedures. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in maintaining workplace safety by promptly reporting accidents and incidents, minimizing compensation claims, and aiming for the highest possible health department ratings.
Communication and leadership are critical in this role, as the Assistant Manager coordinates meetings with team members and management to review operations and implement company procedures. They are responsible for employee development, conducting performance reviews, processing payroll, maintaining personnel files in compliance with federal and state laws, and ensuring applicant tracking meets legal standards. The position demands adaptability to various shifts, open availability, and the ability to handle multiple priorities confidently.
Candidates for this role must possess strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment to manage complex issues typical in the quick-service restaurant industry. Experience with profit and loss analysis, cash controls, labor analysis, and food cost calculations is essential. Computer proficiency, including order processing systems, supports effective operational management.
The role offers compensation based on appropriate pay bands, commensurate with experience, and includes an incentive bonus plan tied to performance and profitability. Candidates must successfully pass background and drug screening as part of the hiring or promotion process.
This position operates in a dynamic environment involving exposure to both indoor and outdoor conditions, potential temperature variations, and physical demands such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent walking and stooping. The use of various kitchen and restaurant equipment is standard. Overall, the Assistant Restaurant Manager position is ideal for motivated individuals seeking to grow their careers in the fast-paced and rewarding QSR industry.
