The role of Restaurant Cook at Neiman Marcus is a vital position within the company’s retail restaurant operations. As a Restaurant Cook, you will play an active role in ensuring the smooth operation of the retail restaurant by handling tasks such as controlling inventory levels, communicating supply needs, preparing food according to menu counts, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. You will collaborate closely with supervisors and head cooks to fulfill production demands and support the overall guest experience. This position requires flexibility as shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the luxury retail setting.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 35 pounds
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to health and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Maintain an active role in the smoothness and efficiency of retail restaurant operations by producing and coordinating the production of food items needed for daily menus and special events
  • Control daily and weekly inventories
  • Maintain team awareness of inventory cost and profitability through proper use of production, build-to, and order sheets
  • Check in with supervisor for any special preparation needed before starting normal kitchen tasks
  • Perform job responsibilities normally associated with those of a cook, including coordinating production of daily menu items using menu count and production (or build-to sheets) to help control waste
  • Check inventory of all menus
  • Communicate supply needs for production with head cook
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area keeping in mind all health and sanitation standards to assure integrity of food products
  • Maintain equipment daily and report any malfunctions to designated associate
  • Maintain flow of food orders by communicating with associates promptly
  • Verify all special orders with designated associate
  • Maintain production of menu items throughout the day, keeping up with supply demands and making serious efforts to avoid wasted items
  • Close and sanitize work area promptly according to health codes and gather items required for next day’s production
  • Communicate any supplies that need to be ordered to supervisor
  • Check in with a supervisor before leaving
  • Uphold all health and sanitation standards as directed by Neiman Marcus, local Health Department, and 3rd party sanitation auditors
