Job Description

Presbyterian Living is a reputable independent, not-for-profit senior living organization that has been serving diverse communities since 1904. The organization provides a comprehensive continuum of care options, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care. With locations in Evanston, Lake Forest, and Arlington Heights, Presbyterian Living is deeply committed to fostering a supportive, compassionate, and mission-driven environment for its residents, their families, and employees. The organization stands out by prioritizing people — ensuring residents live with dignity and joy, and team members feel valued, supported, and inspired to make a meaningful difference every day.

The Moorings of Arlington Heights, part of Presbyterian Living, offers a full-time Cook position in their Dining Department, operating from 10 AM to 8 PM, five days a week. This role comes with an hourly wage ranging from $18.35 to $26.98, based on years of experience. As a Cook, you will be joining a team that values collaboration, compassion, and shared expertise, all aimed at delivering a truly personalized dining experience for residents. This position is ideal for those who are passionate about food preparation, eager to contribute to a positive work environment, and dedicated to supporting the wellness, independence, joy, and security of senior residents.

In this role, the Cook will have the responsibility to prepare a variety of dishes from scratch, including accompaniments and garnishes, while adhering strictly to food safety and quality standards. The role requires working across different dining areas as needed, showcasing thorough knowledge of preparation techniques for all dining settings within the facility. You will also play a key role in planning and organizing daily food production to ensure timely service, maintaining proper portioning, plating, and presentation standards that enhance the mealtime experience for residents. The position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive, people-centered culture recognized as a Great Place to Work®, where employees are encouraged to bring their best selves to work.

Working at The Moorings of Arlington Heights means becoming part of a community that prioritizes employee growth and well-being. They offer comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and onsite fitness options alongside financial security through PTO rollover/sellback, a 403(b) plan with match, commuting benefits, and financial counseling. Employees also enjoy peace of mind with life insurance, disability coverage, and employee assistance programs (EAP). The organization is also committed to continuous development through tuition reimbursement, scholarships, mentorship, and clear career pathways. Engagement events and 24/7 chaplain counseling provide community connection and emotional/spiritual support, which adds to a nurturing workplace atmosphere.

By joining Presbyterian Living and specifically The Moorings of Arlington Heights, you become part of a family-like team where your passion for cooking directly contributes to the health, comfort, and quality of life of senior residents. If you are a dedicated cook seeking a fulfilling career in a mission-driven, compassionate environment with competitive pay and excellent benefits, this is an excellent opportunity to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact every day.
