The role of Restaurant Chef at WarHorse Gaming Omaha is integral to maintaining and elevating the culinary standards of the restaurant. The Restaurant Chef is responsible for managing the daily culinary operations with a keen focus on delivering exceptional quality and consistency in food preparation and presentation. Working closely with the Executive Chef, this role involves not only overseeing kitchen staff but also participating in menu development, ensuring all culinary efforts align with guest expectations and cost-efficiency goals. The chef will lead recruitment, training, and development of the back-of-house team, promoting a positive work environment and high performance standards. Additionally, the position requires adept management of labor and food costs, inventory control, and vendor relations to optimize operational efficiency. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Nebraska Gaming License
  • Food Handler Certification required
  • ServSafe Certification required
  • TIPS Alcohol Certification required
  • Available to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience may be considered
  • Minimum of five years of kitchen experience, including at least three years in a supervisory culinary role
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
  • Experience managing labor costs, food costs, inventory, and budgeting
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and operations
  • Demonstrated commitment to guest service excellence and ethical conduct

Job Duties

  • Practice, support, and maintain the Mission, Vision, and Values of WarHorse Gaming, LLC
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure quality, consistency, efficiency, and guest satisfaction
  • Evaluate business needs, historical trends, and forecasted demand to allocate resources effectively and maximize operational performance
  • Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure adherence to recipes, preparation techniques, and quality standards
  • Partner with the Executive Chef to develop menus and special event offerings that meet guest expectations while maintaining cost controls
  • Recruit, schedule, train, coach, and develop culinary team members
  • Create menu specials and determine associated food costs and profitability
  • Develop and maintain recipe standards, portion controls, and food specifications
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, health regulations, and food safety standards
  • Maintain proper sanitation practices, food storage procedures, and inventory rotation
  • Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets and labor costs
  • Oversee food purchasing, inventory management, receiving, and vendor relationships
  • Ensure restaurant operations are organized for efficient and high-quality service
  • Utilize POS and inventory management systems to monitor costs and maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and departmental functions as required
  • Provide exceptional guest service and foster a positive work environment
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
