Reporting typically to the Restaurant Manager, the Restaurant Chef plays a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with brand and regulatory standards, driving cost control measures, and fostering a positive and productive team environment. As a Restaurant Chef at HMSHost, your duties will include supervising day-to-day kitchen activities, delegating responsibilities to culinary staff, and establishing timelines to ensure efficient operations. You will be responsible for inspecting all aspects of food handling according to HACCP safety procedures, maintaining relationships with food vendors, pricing and ordering supplies, and managing inventory to maximize profits. An essential component of the role is enforcing company, franchise, and regulatory standards to guarantee that all food products meet the established quality and presentation expectations. You will also oversee the full lifecycle of staff management which includes hiring, training, performance reviews, discipline, and career development. Job Requirements

  • Post-secondary training via community college, technical school, culinary arts school or four-year university
  • Minimum of 5 years managerial or supervision experience in the food service industry
  • Certified in Serve Safe Management certification course
  • Demonstrates team management, delegation, issue resolution, coaching skills and ability to motivate others
  • Demonstrates organization and multi-project time and issue management skills
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents
  • Ability to converse comfortably with individuals
