Job Description
The Waldorf Astoria New York, an iconic symbol of luxury and elegance, has recently experienced a transformative restoration that redefines its legacy while embracing a fresh, modern expression of its rich history. As a premier luxury hotel located in the heart of New York City, the Waldorf Astoria boasts 375 exquisitely designed rooms and 375 residences, offering an unparalleled environment and personalized attention for discerning travelers. This landmark establishment features 40,000 square feet of event space, a holistic spa and wellness program, and collaborations with celebrity chefs, making it a distinguished destination for guests seeking the highest standards of hospitality. Globally, Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts are celebrated for their unique ability to reflect the culture and history of their extraordinary locations, and the New York property upholds this tradition with grandeur and sophistication.
In the role of Restaurant Assistant General Manager at the Waldorf Astoria New York, you will play a pivotal part in ushering in a new era of luxury dining at the Peacock Alley. This venue, named after the original hotel’s historic passageway, offers a vibrant yet elegant dining experience with bespoke menus available from breakfast through dinner, complemented by a cocktail program paying tribute to the world’s most celebrated bars. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of Peacock Alley, supervising a dedicated team comprising three Assistant Restaurant Managers and 30 front-of-house staff. The position requires a dynamic leader with a passion for exceptional hospitality, capable of managing all facets of restaurant operations, including guest service, product quality, cost control, marketing strategies, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Your leadership in this role will extend to creating memorable guest experiences through diligent monitoring of service quality and guest satisfaction, addressing concerns promptly, and continuously enhancing all touchpoints of the guest journey. You will also be responsible for inspiring and developing your team by providing coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering professional growth to maintain a high-performing, engaged workforce. Collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and PR teams, you’ll drive innovative marketing campaigns to increase brand visibility and guest loyalty. Further, you will maximize operational efficiency through strategic use of technology, such as reservation systems like OpenTable, and implement revenue growth initiatives through up-selling, menu development, and cross-selling hotel services. Upholding the highest standards in health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness is paramount to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for both guests and team members.
Joining Waldorf Astoria New York as a Restaurant Assistant General Manager means becoming part of a heritage brand known for unparalleled excellence and service. This role is tailor-made for individuals who are passionate about luxury dining, have demonstrated experience in upscale restaurant management, and possess strong beverage knowledge within a cocktail-driven culture. Experience managing in unionized environments is preferred, highlighting the importance of exceptional employee relations. Hilton values core principles such as hospitality, integrity, leadership, teamwork, ownership, and a focus on making a meaningful impact in every moment. By becoming part of this distinguished hotel, you will not only lead a premier dining outlet but also contribute to a legacy that is synonymous with luxury, culture, and unforgettable guest experiences, helping to set new standards within the hospitality industry.
