Job Description
George & Gather is a vibrant all-day hangout located in downtown Chandler, known for its commitment to serving gourmet, from-scratch fare made with clean, organic ingredients free from seed oils. This locally owned establishment prides itself on offering a welcoming dining experience that nurtures both body and soul. With a beautifully restored mid-century building on Washington Street, George & Gather combines a modern culinary approach with a neighborhood-friendly atmosphere. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a space featuring a marble-topped community table, intimate banquette booths, and an exhibition-style kitchen where meals are prepared in full view. The venue also includes an indoor-outdoor bar, a spacious covered patio with a fireplace and music, and a dedicated market offering grab-and-go meals, a wine bottle wall, and locally made merchandise.
The Bar Manager role at George & Gather is a full-time, onsite position with a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $90,000 per year, complemented by bonus pay. This leadership position within the Food & Beverage Operations department reports directly to the General Manager and is key to ensuring an exceptional guest experience at the bar. The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all bar operations, from inventory and beverage cost management to staff supervision, compliance with alcohol service regulations, and maintaining safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of bartending experience and at least one year in a leadership or supervisory role, along with strong communication and organizational skills. Essential functions include coaching and developing bartenders and support staff, managing schedules, conducting inventory counts, and ensuring the bar delivers premium service quality that adheres to company policies and local regulations.
This position requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic and guest-focused nature of the hospitality industry. The Bar Manager leads by example during all shifts, facilitating effective teamwork and a positive work environment while managing beverage costs and labor efficiency to meet targeted financial goals. Moreover, this role demands a hands-on approach to bar operations including cleanliness, speed and quality of service, guest satisfaction, and conflict resolution. Responsibilities also extend to administrative tasks such as maintaining training records, documenting incidents, and participating in management meetings to track key performance indicators like guest satisfaction scores, employee retention, and sales growth.
George & Gather offers comprehensive benefits including paid time off, employee discounts, and paid training, making this a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and leadership in a fast-paced, inspiring environment. With a strong focus on local community engagement and sustainable food practices, the Bar Manager will play a pivotal role in sustaining the restaurant's reputation for excellence and innovative service.
