The position available is for a Cook within the group, offering an hourly wage ranging from $20.75 to $23. This role is integral to the day-to-day culinary operations, responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of food items at restaurants and in-room dining facilities. The cook will engage in butcher tasks involving chicken, beef, fish, and shellfish and will apply culinary skills to ensure the timely preparation of high-quality dishes following strict health and safety standards.

This role not only requires technical expertise in food preparation but also a strong commitment to sanitation, safety, and regulatory compliance. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year prior food preparation experience
  • culinary degree or training preferred
  • valid Food Handlers Card or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to follow detailed instructions
  • physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • willingness to comply with OSHA and company safety policies

Job Qualifications

  • One year prior food prep experience required
  • culinary degree or training desired
  • possess advanced knowledge of food preparation, professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, recipes, short correspondence and memos
  • completes required training as scheduled
  • ability to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends and alternate shifts
  • valid current Food Handlers Card or willingness and ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • knowledge of all applicable health standards
  • maintains clean appearance and professional demeanor

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items such as salads, soups, sauces, meats, and vegetables according to prescribed recipes and guidelines
  • butchers chicken, fish, and shellfish, cutting, trimming and boning meat prior to cooking
  • reads menu to estimate food requirements and requisitions food from storage
  • adjusts thermostat controls to regulate and maintain appropriate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles
  • measures and mixes ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and knives
  • bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables and other foods, adding seasoning as required
  • observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling and piercing to ensure proper cooking
  • carves meats, portions food onto serving plates, adds gravies and sauces and garnishes servings
  • follows all standard food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • wears non-slip, oil resistant shoes and follows all safety policies, reports potential safety issues and acts immediately in emergencies
  • reports to work on time and on a regular basis
