The role of Resort Executive Sous Chef at Crystal Mountain is a critical leadership position within the Food & Beverage department. Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Director and the Resort Executive Chef, the Executive Sous Chef manages all kitchen operations across the resort’s various dining venues, ensuring that high standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation are consistently maintained. This position requires a hands-on leader who is adept at coordinating culinary teams, managing resources, and actively participating in daily kitchen activities. Responsibilities extend beyond supervision to include training and coaching Lead Line Cooks, monitoring compliance with health and safety regulations, and overseeing inventory and labor cost controls. With a competitive salary ranging from $78,000 to $80,000 depending on experience and eligibility for bonuses, this role offers a rewarding career opportunity in a beautiful mountain setting. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, including 2 years as a sous chef
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple kitchen operations
  • Skilled in kitchen equipment usage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift and move at least 20 pounds occasionally
  • Manual dexterity for computer and office equipment use
  • Auditory and visual acuity for effective communication
  • Capability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Commitment to workplace safety and health standards

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of on-the-job culinary experience
  • At least 2 years experience as a sous chef
  • Creative problem-solver with passion, enthusiasm and fresh ideas
  • Proven track record of being organized, dependable and self-motivated
  • Team builder with ability to manage and develop a team
  • Skilled in the use of kitchen equipment
  • Ability to interact positively with management, coworkers and staff to promote a team effort
  • Ability to produce high volume of work that is accurate, complete, and high quality
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs
  • Remodel and new build experience a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensure great guest service through consistent execution of all menus and recipes, training and accountability of the culinary team in execution
  • Assist the Lead Line Cooks in the training of all culinary and stewarding personnel
  • Review, evaluate, and coach all Lead Line Cooks
  • Assist Executive Chef with controlling the day-to-day operation of all kitchens, ensuring a high-quality product and minimal waste
  • Assist with the preparation and creation of all menus, including banquets and daily specials
  • Assist with the organization of food festivals and special culinary events
  • Maintain cleanliness and good working order of all kitchens, refrigerators and storage areas
