Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Culinary degree strongly preferred
  • 1-2 years experience as a culinary instructor
  • 3-4 years kitchen management experience
  • Valid Food Manager Certification
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to stand for up to 5 hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to work in variable kitchen environments
  • Ability to operate POS and computer systems

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree strongly preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience as a culinary instructor
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible kitchen management experience
  • Valid Food Manager Certification
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and motivating teams
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Passion for community engagement and customer experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred
  • Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment

Job Duties

  • Recruit, mentor and retain a high-performing culinary and retail team
  • Lead, coach, and inspire associates to exceed performance expectations and uphold a positive team culture
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and create development plans
  • Represent the brand by creating memorable, educational cooking classes
  • Ensure quality and execution of cooking classes by following recipes and game plans
  • Work with store leadership to increase foot traffic through classes and private events
  • Maintain expertise on products and training resources
  • Lead a customer-focused, guest obsessed culture on the sales floor and in the kitchen
  • Address and resolve customer feedback related to the culinary program
  • Drive sales growth by implementing strategies to enhance culinary and retail business
  • Analyze key performance metrics daily to optimize store performance
  • Manage daily store operations ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and control expenses
  • Handle alcohol products in compliance with regulations
  • Ensure store safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain employee records and adhere to wage and hour laws
  • Communicate and enforce Sur La Table policies and standard operating procedures
