Job Description
Core-Mark is an industry-leading distributor specializing in fresh and broadline solutions tailored for the convenience retail sector. Established as the largest and most comprehensive marketer of consumer goods across North America, Core-Mark services a wide-ranging network of convenience operators throughout the United States and Canada. The company prides itself on empowering not just its customers but also its employees and the communities it serves by providing a full spectrum of products, programs, and solutions that cater to the evolving needs of the retail convenience market. Core-Mark is known for its commitment to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace environment. Recognized as a leader within the consumer goods distribution space, Core-Mark operates with a strong adherence to equal employment opportunity principles, ensuring fair treatment and opportunities for all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics.
This position is a union-represented role covered under a collective bargaining agreement, providing eligible employees with extensive health and welfare benefits through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust. Such benefits include medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Employees may also be eligible for pension benefits through the Teamsters Pension Plan, receiving employer contributions in line with the agreement. An option to participate in an annuity plan is available for employees who have qualifying medical coverage outside the Trust. All wages, benefits, and eligibility criteria are strictly governed by the terms outlined in the collective bargaining agreement and the Trust Funds.
The role of a Relief Shuttle Driver is integral to Core-Mark's operational logistics. Working primarily Monday through Friday with a dispatch time at 5:00 PM, candidates must hold a CDL Class A license with a Doubles Endorsement. The Relief Shuttle Driver is responsible for transporting empty trailers to various warehouse locations operated by the company, and subsequently turning around to deliver full trailers loaded with assorted products back to domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role requires driving tandem trailers, tractor trailers, or straight trucks along both intrastate and interstate routes, maintaining safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations at all times.
Beyond transportation, the Relief Shuttle Driver engages in important communication and interactions with customers, vendors, and coworkers, ensuring that inquiries are met promptly and professionally. The role involves a high degree of teamwork within the department and may extend to covering duties as a Route Delivery Driver when required. Responsibilities encompass a broad range of duties from performing detailed safety inspections and pre/post-trip checks, ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured, to completing all necessary paperwork with accuracy. Drivers are expected to manage the hook/unhook process of trailers, park and store trailers in designated areas, perform damage control procedures on freight, verify deliveries, collect payments when needed, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness of both the tractor and loading dock area.
Being a Relief Shuttle Driver at Core-Mark offers a dynamic workday that combines driving skills, safety consciousness, and customer service ability. It is a role well-suited for individuals who take pride in meticulousness, adherence to regulations, and contributing effectively to a collaborative company environment. Candidates will be part of a company recognized for its inclusive culture, growth opportunities, and dedication to employee welfare. The compensation for this position is set at a pay rate of $29.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role within Core-Mark's logistics and distribution framework. If you are driven to contribute to a leading company in the consumer goods marketing industry and meet the stringent requirements outlined, this role offers a rewarding and stable career path with substantial benefits and support.
