The role of a Physical Therapy Aide at Mercy is vital in supporting therapists and enhancing patient care across a diverse age range. Working under the general supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor, this position involves assisting therapists in carrying out patient care duties essential to the therapeutic process. The Physical Therapy Aide not only facilitates the smooth operation of the physical therapy department but also plays a key role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and readiness for therapy sessions. This role requires a compassionate individual who is capable of managing multiple duties including patient transportation, treatment area preparation, and administrative support such as scheduling and registration.

In this position, the Physical Therapy Aide is expected to have excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, therapists, and nurses. The ability to listen carefully and communicate clearly is essential for providing quality patient care and working efficiently within the team. The aide will be responsible for transferring patients safely to and from the Rehab Therapy Gym and assisting with treatment procedures as directed by the therapists, adhering closely to departmental policies and safety standards. Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining clean and safe treatment areas, entering charges accurately, and assisting with appointment scheduling and filing.

This role does not carry supervisory responsibilities but demands a high level of initiative and responsibility for completing daily tasks. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year experience or education in therapies preferred
  • excellent human relation skills including listening and speaking
