Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor in the United States. They serve a diverse range of customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Performance Foodservice is recognized not only for delivering high-quality food products but also for providing expert advice and personalized service through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational specialists. This team helps customers improve their operations, develop menus, select optimal products, and enhance business strategies. The company prides itself on supporting independent restaurant owners to achieve their business goals, fostering a strong sense of partnership and commitment to quality and service excellence.
This role is for a CDL-A Driver, an essential position in the food distribution supply chain. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products safely and timely across intrastate and interstate routes. Routes typically involve regional travel with 3-5 day layovers, and shifts last 4 to 5 days per week with start times ranging from 11 PM to 3 AM. The position offers a competitive compensation package with an average pay range between $90,000 and $100,000 annually, along with a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.
The driver acts as the face of the company, ensuring superior customer service by building lasting relationships through professional interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Key responsibilities include performing all necessary safety checks and inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, maintaining the tractor and trailer to company safety standards, and properly securing freight. The driver must follow all DOT guidelines and company policies to maintain safety and operational efficiency.
In addition to driving and delivering goods, the CDL-A Driver is responsible for loading and unloading products, verifying deliveries and customer signatures, collecting payments when applicable, and managing paperwork accurately. The driver must have physical endurance to handle product cases typically weighing between 10 to 35 pounds, and in some locations up to 60 to 90 pounds, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
Performance Foodservice provides a safe and inclusive work environment characterized by a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. Employees benefit from health and wellness benefits starting on day one, participation in an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and opportunities for career growth. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair treatment and opportunity for all employees regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or any other protected characteristic.
This role is perfect for motivated individuals who value safety, professionalism, and customer service in a fast-paced, essential industry. It offers the opportunity to be part of a respected company that makes a significant impact in America’s food distribution system.
