The role of Regional Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist at C&W Services is a field-based position responsible for overseeing safety programs and ensuring regulatory compliance across 30 to 40 commercial facility sites throughout New England. This role is vital to maintaining a safe work environment across multiple service lines and client locations, which include janitorial, office services, landscaping, facilities maintenance, and building engineering. The EH&S Specialist will conduct various site inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, identifying hazards and partnering with site leaders to implement corrective actions effectively.
Regular daytime travel between the assigned sites is essential, allowing for thorough oversight and implementation of safety programs, but overnight travel is not required. The specialist will provide expert guidance on OSHA General Industry standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations to ensure all operations meet or exceed safety requirements. Maintaining essential permits, logs, training records, OSHA documentation, and audit records is a core responsibility, alongside developing and updating safe work procedures, emergency plans, and safety training programs. Supporting Workers’ Compensation investigations, including documentation and claim tracking, is also a key aspect of the role.
Additionally, the EH&S Specialist will advise teams on commercial building safety and environmental concerns such as indoor air quality, mold, asbestos, water intrusion, and fuel storage. The successful candidate will promote a robust safety culture across all service lines and client locations, fostering an environment where safety is prioritized. The position requires strong communication, organizational, technical writing, and problem-solving skills to manage a geographically dispersed portfolio effectively. Candidates must live within a practical commuting distance of Cambridge and Greater Boston, with typical work hours being 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on client and business needs.
The compensation for this role ranges from $76,500 to $90,000 annually, reflecting factors such as geographic location, experience, and qualifications. Job Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant health and safety experience
- experience supporting multi-site EH&S programs
- strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards
- ability to conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations

- experience with commercial facilities and maintenance operations

Job Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant health and safety experience
- multi-site EH&S experience preferably supporting 30 or more locations
- strong working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards
- experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- ability to independently manage priorities across a geographically dispersed portfolio
- experience supporting commercial facilities, building engineering, maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, or office services
- strong communication, organization, technical writing, and problem-solving skills
- ability to travel regularly between assigned sites during the workday
- ability to access commercial rooftops, climb tall ladders, and inspect mechanical and operational areas
- bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental health and safety, engineering, or related field preferred
- CSP, CIH, ASP, or comparable safety certification preferred
- formal training in auditing, risk assessment, or incident investigation preferred
- experience supporting integrated facilities management operations preferred
- bilingual communication skills strongly preferred
