Job Description

IDEA Public Schools is a renowned and rapidly growing network of tuition-free, public charter schools dedicated to the mission that every child can go to college. Founded in 2000 with just 150 students, the organization has expanded to serve over 80,000 college-bound students across 143 schools in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Ohio, and continues to uphold a proud legacy of sending 100% of its graduates to college. Nationally recognized on The Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report's top high schools lists, IDEA Public Schools offers an impactful, mission-driven environment where educators and staff work relentlessly to make college a reality for all students. The organization fosters a culture of integrity, respect, and belonging, upheld by its Core Values and a focus on human connection facilitated by the Staff Culture and Belonging Team. Working at IDEA means becoming part of the IDEA Team and Family, collaborating with ambitious colleagues committed to continuous growth and student success in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment.

The role of Receptionist at IDEA Public Schools is essential in providing exemplary customer service and acting as the primary point-of-contact for students, parents, visitors, and phone inquiries at campus sites. This position plays a critical role in ensuring parent satisfaction by addressing families’ needs, sharing timely information, and coordinating smoothly with other team members. The Receptionist is responsible for managing front office traffic, which includes processing late students, visitors, and parent pick-ups, and utilizing PowerSchool to accurately locate student schedules. In this capacity, the Receptionist ensures campus safety by verifying appropriate visitor credentials, directing visitors and students to relevant contacts or offices, and maintaining organization of essential forms and documents such as FARM applications, uniform guides, and enrollment paperwork. Coordination and confidentiality in processing student records are key functions, along with proficiently handling multi-line phone systems to provide general information or route calls to the appropriate staff members.

Additional duties include serving as a liaison between parents, students, and team members by effectively communicating morning announcements and exemplifying IDEA’s core values through excellent customer service. The Receptionist also provides crucial support to the lead team as needed, including recruiting students for future school years and serving as a backup for the Nurse or Health Aide. The successful candidate embodies IDEA’s mission-driven focus, holds themselves accountable for achieving results, demonstrates problem-solving capabilities, and maintains high communication standards. They thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced educational environment, welcoming feedback and consistently seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

IDEA Public Schools offers competitive hourly compensation starting at $15.50 for candidates with no experience up to $18.99 for those with relevant experience, complemented by eligibility for performance bonuses tied to team achievements and goal attainment. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits plan that includes coverage of most employee premiums for base medical plans, subsidies for family coverage, paid family leave, tuition reimbursement programs, employer-paid mental and behavioral health services, along with dental, vision, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, generous vacation time, referral bonuses, and professional development opportunities. IDEA may also provide relocation assistance as applicable. This role is perfect for candidates seeking to join a mission-focused, high-impact educational organization where each day offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
