Job Description

The University of Miami is a prestigious private research university located in Coral Gables, Florida. Known for its academic excellence and commitment to innovation, the university offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Among its many distinguished divisions is the Miller School of Medicine, which stands out for its groundbreaking research, comprehensive medical education, and superior patient care. The University of Miami Health System, branded as UHealth, is South Florida's only university-based health system. It plays a vital role in serving South Florida, Latin America, and the Caribbean by delivering advanced healthcare services, supporting cutting-edge medical research, and training future healthcare professionals.

UHealth's Department of Clinical Access is currently seeking a full-time Receptionist to join its team at the Lennar location. This role is pivotal as it serves as the initial point of contact for visitors, patients, vendors, staff, and students entering the clinical setting. The Receptionist’s primary responsibility is to provide a warm, professional, and efficient welcome to everyone who interacts with the department, whether in person or via telephone. The role requires exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of confidentiality, especially concerning patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

The Receptionist will handle a variety of crucial tasks that include greeting patients and family members courteously across all clinic areas and coordinating clinic signing procedures. They will instruct patients about the activities scheduled during their visits and act as a liaison between the registration staff and medical personnel to ensure that operations run smoothly. This position involves maintaining tracking logs for scheduled and walk-in appointments, gathering and reporting data as needed to supervisors or directors. It also demands vigilance in reviewing appointment schedules in the electronic health record system, UChart, to ensure patients are registered correctly and informed of any delays.

Moreover, the Receptionist plays an important role in managing late arrivals by promptly notifying nurses or physicians if rescheduling might be necessary to maintain clinic workflow. The role requires collaboration with the registration team and other clinic staff to support patient registration and visit processing as needed. Candidates should demonstrate adaptability and a proactive approach to learning new procedures and technologies to keep up with the dynamic healthcare environment. With a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and tuition remission, this opportunity offers a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about healthcare service and patient interaction.

Full-time employment status is offered for this position, reserved for staff employees. The University of Miami fosters a respectful and inclusive work environment, encouraging diverse applicants to apply. As an equal opportunity employer, it protects applicants and employees from discrimination based on categories protected by federal law. The chosen Receptionist will join a top-tier academic medical center renowned for its excellent teaching, research, and patient care, contributing meaningfully to the health and well-being of the South Florida community and beyond.
