As the first point of contact for visitors and clients, the receptionist is responsible for screening visitors, ensuring they follow hospital protocols such as signing in and wearing visitor passes, and maintaining security in the building. This role requires excellent communication skills to connect and transfer calls to the appropriate individuals or departments and to conduct overhead paging as needed. The receptionist supports the admissions coordinator by covering during breaks and other times as necessary, and communicates tour requests from customers. Additional responsibilities include managing logistical tasks such as obtaining wheelchairs for patients, monitoring the lobby and parking areas for any unusual behavior, and ensuring timely delivery of gifts for patients by notifying nursing staff. The receptionist also handles all outgoing and incoming mail, including postmarking outgoing mail and logging incoming job applications with accuracy and efficiency. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Experience in a receptionist or customer service role preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to support a collaborative healthcare team

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Screen visitors to the appropriate location ensuring security to the building
  • Inform all visitors to sign in and wear a visitor’s pass when entering the building
  • Provide daily coverage for the admissions coordinator during breaks and as needed
  • Connect and transfer calls to the appropriate party and perform overhead paging
  • Notify the admissions coordinator when a customer requests a tour of the facility
  • Obtain wheelchairs for patients
  • Report any unusual behavior in lobby or parking area to facilities
  • Notify nursing when gifts for patients arrive for timely delivery
  • Postmark all outgoing mail and distribute all incoming mail
  • Log all incoming job applications
