Job Description

Harbor Regional Center (HRC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families within the communities of Los Angeles County. As a vital part of California's regional center system, HRC works to enhance the quality of life for those they serve by offering a wide range of programs, community resources, and personalized care. Known for its commitment to client-centered service, inclusion, and innovation, Harbor Regional Center also fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace that values teamwork and contributes to the well-being of individuals in the community. HRC operates in a professional, clean, and welcoming office environment in Torrance, California, facilitating both staff and client interactions in a respectful and efficient manner.

The Receptionist at Harbor Regional Center plays a crucial role in ensuring a welcoming and professional first impression for all visitors, clients, families, service providers, staff, and the general public. This full-time position offers a starting salary range of $39,249 to $44,387 annually and requires the individual to work an eight-hour day shift, Monday through Friday, from the center's location in Torrance, CA. The Receptionist's responsibilities go far beyond traditional front desk duties—they serve as the central communication point, greeting and directing visitors, answering and routing incoming calls, providing general information about meetings and training sessions, and maintaining office security and logistics. In addition, the role involves a variety of clerical tasks including ordering supplies, managing correspondence, filing, data preparation, and supporting event coordination activities.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Work includes use of a variety of software programs such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Laserfiche, Virtual Chart, and scheduling tools. The Receptionist also acts as a Floor Warden during emergencies, manages building security logs, keycards, and monitors security systems to maintain a safe environment for all. Bilingual Spanish is required to effectively communicate with the diverse client base served by the center, reflecting the organization's commitment to inclusion and accessibility.

Candidates should be comfortable working with confidential client information under HIPAA compliance and maintaining discretion and professionalism at all times. This role offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plans, paid time off, and employee assistance programs. The ideal candidate is approachable, proactive, and skilled in customer service, able to navigate multiple tasks with confidence and courtesy while fostering a positive atmosphere within the center's front office.
