Harbor Regional Center is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in Southern California.
Operating under the guidelines of the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Act, Harbor Regional Center ensures that individuals with developmental disabilities have access to the necessary services and supports to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
Services Offered
Harbor Regional Center offers a wide array of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.
These services are organized by age groups to provide appropriate support at different life stages:
- Services for All Ages: Individuals can access services such as assessment and diagnosis, individualized planning and service coordination, assistance in identifying and coordinating community resources, respite services, family support, education opportunities, and advocacy for the protection of individual rights.
- Early Childhood (Birth to Age 3): Early Start services support developmental delays or disabilities in infants and toddlers.
- School Age (3 Years and Older): Services for children and adolescents are determined through the Individual Person-Centered Plan (IPP), focusing on unique needs and goals.
- Adults (18 Years and Older): Adults receive support to achieve goals related to living arrangements, employment, and community participation.
In addition to age-specific services, Harbor Regional Center offers specialized programs such as the California START program that provides mental health crisis support and prevention for individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health needs.
The Parent Mentor Program assists parents and caregivers in navigating systems serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Social Recreation Services have been restored to support social engagement and community participation.
