This opportunity is for a full-time Receptionist position at AFSCME District Council 36. The Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for visitors and members, playing a crucial role in establishing a welcoming and professional atmosphere at the Council. In this role, the Receptionist will greet, receive, and announce visitors, and handle phone inquiries—many of which may come from members experiencing worksite challenges—requiring empathy, patience, and professionalism. Supporting the daily operational needs of the Council, the Receptionist will also manage a variety of administrative duties, including conference room scheduling, office supply management, event coordination, and tracking staff expenses and inventories. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and collaborative teamwork capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a typing speed of at least 45 words per minute, basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and a working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers, postage meters, printers, and fax machines. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 20 pounds, sit for extended periods, and navigate stairs.

The position offers a salary range of $22.28 to $26.74 per hour, commensurate with experience, and is covered by the OPEIU collective bargaining agreement.
