The General Manager position at The Lodge at Big Springs represents a unique leadership opportunity within the vibrant setting of Northstar, one of Vail Resorts' cornerstone mountain destinations. The Lodge is a bustling, high-volume mountain dining venue where great food and genuine hospitality combine with breathtaking views to create memorable guest experiences. As General Manager, you will spearhead all aspects of operations overseeing a team of more than 50 employees, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and excellence. You will be responsible for service quality, food safety, labor planning, financial performance, and employee development. This full-time, year-round role offers autonomy and the chance to shape not only the guest experience but also the workplace culture and operational standards. The position includes a competitive salary ranging from $72,000 to $76,000 annually plus bonuses, accompanied by comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and employee discounts. Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of restaurant or hospitality management experience
  • A genuine passion for developing people and building teams where everyone can do their best work
  • Experience managing high-volume operations with accountability for service standards, labor, and financial outcomes
  • Strong communication skills - clear, direct, and respectful with both your team and your guests
  • The ability to stay grounded under pressure and work through challenges with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and operational reporting
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays during peak season
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • RBS alcohol certification and Food Safe Manager certification, both provided by the company
  • Ability to lift and carry 40+ lbs as needed for the role

Job Duties

  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing team of 50+ through hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and performance development
  • Create a workplace culture grounded in accountability, inclusion, service, and continuous improvement
  • Deliver a consistently excellent guest experience in a fast-paced mountain resort environment
  • Own operational performance across service, food quality, sanitation, safety, inventory, labor, payroll, tip disbursements, and revenue reporting
  • Plan and manage labor in alignment with business levels, ensuring smart cost management and operational readiness throughout the season
  • Champion safety for employees and guests through strong practices, safety meetings, and a clean, well-maintained operation
  • Keep facilities and equipment in excellent condition through regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and timely follow-up
  • Partner with resort and food and beverage leadership to share insights, strengthen operations, and pursue continuous improvement
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, OSHA expectations, and applicable regulations
