This particular opening is for the role of Quality Technician at Ecolab's Glenwood, IL plant. The Quality Technician is a vital part of the operations team, responsible for performing quality control tests on mechanical and electrical systems integral to Nalco's pretreatment equipment and chemical dosing systems. The role requires a hands-on approach to ensure that all equipment meets or exceeds established standards for performance and safety. This involves conducting hydrostatic, mechanical, and electrical tests according to standardized procedures, documenting results accurately, and troubleshooting issues that arise during testing. The technician also works closely with engineering teams to validate quality standards and ensure test methods are adequate.

Additionally, the role includes programming and configuring programmable logic controller (PLC) systems, interpreting technical drawings, and safely handling heavy equipment using cranes and forklifts. Working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, providing a stable daytime work schedule. Compensation is set at $30.00 per hour, reflecting the technical skills and experience required. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in an equipment assembly or electrical-related assignment
  • 3 years of experience working on industrial equipment utilizing computerized (PLC) control systems to perform process operations
  • experience using hand and power tools and basic size/weight measuring devices
  • experience using electrical process calibration tools, including multi-meters, signal generators, and amprobes
  • ability to use overhead crane and safe rigging methods
  • forklift operation certification or ability to operate a forklift
  • ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • availability to work Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM
  • strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform hydrostatic, mechanical, and electrical tests on equipment based on standard procedures and document test results
  • troubleshoot and potentially fix issues that arise during testing
  • upload, configure, debug and troubleshoot programmable logic controller (PLC) programs and related control logic on equipment
  • use and install meters, power supplies, hoses, and other testing equipment
  • critically evaluate quality standards
  • interface with equipment design engineers to ensure electrical, mechanical, and control system tests are sufficient
  • read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • oversee quality testing department to ensure schedule, quality, and safety standards are met
  • use overhead crane and safe rigging and maneuvering of loads in support of the various equipment assembly and preparation for shipment activities
  • operate a forklift and pallet jack
  • other duties as assigned
