Job Description

Hentzen Coatings, Inc. is a distinguished leader in the coatings industry, having maintained its position as an independent, privately held company since 1923. With nearly a century of expertise, Hentzen Coatings specializes in the development and manufacture of advanced coatings, primarily serving the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. The company is renowned for its commitment to innovation, quality, and outstanding customer service, which has earned it a reputation as a trusted partner and technology innovator within its sector. By leveraging its state-of-the-art facilities and highly skilled teams, Hentzen Coatings continues to deliver tailored coating solutions that meet the highly specialized and stringent demands of its clients.

The role of Quality Control Color Shader at Hentzen Coatings is a critical position focused on ensuring that all liquid coatings are accurately tinted and adjusted according to precise formula specifications. This role works on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, offering a competitive pay range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications. The Quality Control Color Shader functions within a dedicated Quality Control team, using their expertise to assess, refine, and perfect color matching and coating properties. This responsibility demands proficiency in color theory, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to perform complex mathematical assessments.

The candidate selected for this position will be integral in operating specialized equipment, such as spectrophotometers, to measure and match colors precisely. They will prepare test panels and conduct visual evaluations, collaborate with chemists and supervisors to address color discrepancies, and document quality outcomes using sophisticated data management systems. Moreover, this role involves physical aspects such as adding additives directly to production tanks, performing various laboratory tests, and maintaining an organized, safe work environment by following hazardous waste procedures.

Ideal candidates should possess strong analytical skills, dedication to quality standards, and advanced mathematical abilities to perform unit conversions and evaluate performance metrics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and database management is essential for effectively managing quality control data and facilitating cross-functional collaboration. The Quality Control Color Shader must also demonstrate excellent communication skills and be an effective team player within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Hentzen Coatings provides a work atmosphere conducive to learning and professional growth, supported by competitive benefits including a generous paid time off policy, 401(k) employer match, profit sharing, and employee referral programs. The company is also committed to workplace safety, requiring personal protective equipment and offering thorough training for hazardous waste handling. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, hands-on laboratory and production experience, and a passionate commitment to maintaining the high standards associated with Hentzen's heritage of excellence.
