Rooted in a culture of operational excellence and culinary expertise, SkyChefs emphasizes continuous innovation and maintains high standards in aviation cuisine, last-mile logistics, airline services, and retail commerce. The company's commitment to quality ensures that from their kitchens to the airport runways, every meal and service provided meets rigorous quality benchmarks, aligning with customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
The Quality Assurance Coordinator - Food Safety role at SkyChefs is a vital position focused on maintaining the highest food safety and quality standards within their operations, particularly at their kitchen facility near George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, TX. This hourly paid, full-time on-site role involves working a varied schedule from Tuesday through Saturday with specified shifts to support the company's operational hours. Playing an integral role in implementing and monitoring quality systems, the Coordinator ensures compliance with food safety regulations such as FDA, USDA, and HACCP standards. The role contributes significantly to maintaining the company’s reputable brand by fostering a culture centered around quality and food safety.
Responsibilities include maintaining records and key performance indicators for food safety and sanitation, conducting thorough workstation and environmental inspections, ensuring cold storage compliance, performing laboratory sample collection and analysis, and supporting training initiatives led by the Quality Manager. The role demands detailed attention in auditing processes, verifying documentation, and adhering strictly to regulatory requirements. In addition, the Coordinator plays a supportive role in training hourly staff and ensuring operational areas from dispatch to bonded zones comply with established standards.
Candidates for this position should be equipped with a solid foundation in food safety, quality assurance processes, and demonstrate proficiency with specialized testing equipment and software tools fundamental to quality control. Strong communication skills, both in English and preferably Spanish, along with analytical and problem-solving abilities, are essential for success in this fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. Physical requirements include the ability to work in cold environments and handle lifting or pushing tasks of at least 25 pounds. This position offers an opportunity to join an industry leader where each team member contributes to creating exceptional dining experiences for airline passengers while advancing their career in a supportive and dynamic environment.
