The current opening is for two Quality Assurance Coordinator positions focused on food safety, based onsite near Denver International Airport. This full-time, hourly role offers a wage range of $20.00 to $24.00 per hour and requires a flexible schedule including potential weekend shifts to meet the demands of a 24/7 operation. The Quality Assurance Coordinator plays an essential role in ensuring SkyChefs' food products and services meet rigorous quality and safety standards. The individual in this role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining advanced quality systems to ensure strict compliance with regulatory agencies such as the FDA, USDA, and HACCP guidelines, while surpassing customer expectations.

Key responsibilities include maintaining comprehensive records and key performance indicators related to food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance. The Coordinator regularly monitors Good Manufacturing Practices, verifies temperature controls in coolers and freezers, conducts environmental swabs and microbiological sampling, and performs frequent inspections to uphold process standards. Through training programs and on-the-floor support, the Coordinator fosters a culture prioritizing quality, food safety, and sanitation. This role also involves creating reports, charts, and training materials to support continuous improvement. The position demands strong organizational skills, technical proficiency in various quality assurance tools and software such as MS Office and Excel, and the ability to independently drive quality initiatives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Physical requirements include working in cold environments and the ability to lift or push a minimum of 25 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety
  • Strong technology skills and proficiency with MS Office and Excel
  • Ability to use quality assurance tools and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in cold environments below 40 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to lift or push a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related certification preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety within the food industry
  • Strong technology skills to quickly learn new systems
  • Proficient with MS Office, especially skilled in Excel
  • Experience maintaining trending charts and SOPs
  • Experience using tools such as calculators, weight scales, thermometers, metal detectors, ATP testing equipment, and mechanical food portioning/processing equipment
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to act as a liaison for the Supervisor
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Job Duties

  • Maintain and initiate all recordkeeping and key performance indicators pertinent to the Quality Department and GQS to include but not limited to Food Safety, Sanitation, Regulatory Agencies (County Health, State Health Dept., and FDA), internal customers (LHI) and airline customers
  • Daily monitor of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for compliance
  • Verify cooler and freezer room temperatures for compliance
  • Perform environmental swabs and microbiological sampling, submittal to local laboratory for analysis
  • Obtain Chef Table samples to verify compliance to specification
  • Assist the Quality Manager in specific training and daily initiatives addressing quality, food safety, and sanitation issues to drive process improvements
  • Conduct work station inspections to verify compliance (gold standard verification, specs, sanitizer, food temperatures, HACCP documentation, phf set-up)
  • Conduct portion control weight compliance to specifications
  • Conduct inspection checks (dispatch, galley, non-bonded, bonded, equipment)
  • Verify Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) logs and other documents are accurately completed on a daily basis
  • Create charts, trending reports, training materials and visuals
  • Maintain, monitor standards and train employees in compliance to the Regulated Garbage Standards to meet USDA requirements
  • Support the Jump-off (commissary) locations with oversight
  • Train hourly employees as needed
  • Perform other tasks as requested
